Every Multiplayer FPS is matchmaking only these days

The rise of e-sports and streaming has really killed casual multiplayer.
Rather than having fun with some strangers it's now about exploiting the game mechanics as hard as possible.
And they have to keep churning out patches all the time because of all the constantly changing exploits.

I fucking hate these type of hardcore players. They remind me on those twitch and Reddit players who use words like "rotate," and try to play all tactical- like they are in some military training or something. Like bitch, it's a video game. You don't need to call out every time you're reloading as if your in some real firefight, fucking nerd

I don't have much to contribute to this conversation but I will say I played tf2 for around 500 hours from around 2014-2016 and had an amazing time, the best gaming period of my life. After MYM dropped I played around 5 hours and haven't looked back since. It might not be like this for everyone, but personally I fucking hate matchmaking in a casual setting

I don't think it was the first, but yeah, it was the one that brought it to the mainstream with Halo 2.

COD MW2 was the one that started enforcing it on pc I believe. All went downhill from there.
