can we discus and share games with unique artstyles here?
Games which look nice despite not having realistic graphics
> look nice despite not having realistic graphics
ask me how I know you're a retarded zoomer
i would probably put DQ over Ni No Kuni
tho both styles are comfy imo
whats wrong with enjoying unique looking games?
i get it, you gonna bitch about how all those old consoles have those colourfull cartoony graphics, but fuck you
i never have money to get anything like that as a kid, is it so wrong i want to enjoy what i couldn't as kid?
the way you worded that made it sound like only realistic games can look nice and the fact that stylised games can also look nice is surprising
>despite
There isn't a single game with realistic graphics.
I guess some racing games can reach almost 1:1 if they're on an indoor track, but I haven't seen even those get close.
Btw you are a complete and utter retard if you think RDR2 or a game of the sort looks "realistic". It will look like a cartoon in 5 years.
yeah yeah, I fucked that Title, well as ESL I'm supposed to sound horrible
point of this thread was just appreciation of unique looking games, It's just hard nowadays to find anything with its own artstyle
>realistic grafix
>ever looking nice
Fucking underaged board.
Your example is a very bad pick, mister coomer. Yes the enemies and characters are toriyama looking but the rest of the world looks like 0815 asset store shit and doesn't blend well at all.
well that's problem with 90% of Japanese games, that environment looks bad, even tho characters aren't that high poly to begin with, it isn't as bad as with textures which are always gen behind
ESL?
No, that's Jade
realism is the death of art and all that.
Thanks for the clarification. I can finally rest...
depends, renaissance statues were kino
tho at the same time i like Japanese paintings, while looking simple they have a lot of expression in them
How's this for "unique"?
very, unique
there are too few painted like games
I really like the graphics in Dead or Alive 6
>Rayman cursed to releasing rehashed run games on smart phones
>the ubi art engine dropped entirely after Child of Light
Fuck Ubisoft with a rusty iron rod.
Preach it, man.
Yes
Jet set radio and future
still wonder how would Remake looked if they tried to use original art style from concept art
Getting some obvious ones out of the way:
Okami
Jet Set Radio
Vanillaware games (Odin Sphere, Muramassa, Dragon's Crown)
Yoshi's Island
Kirby's Epic Yarn/Yoshi's Wooly World
For some less obvious ones:
Hotel Dusk
Curse of Monkey Island
ReZ
Killer 7 (moreso in the visual effects like enemies exploding, blood coming out like literal ribbons, and similar effects)
Tons of realistic looking games from a decade ago look unrealistic now. MGS4 was the series going full realism with limited tech and probably looks like anime now.
>Okami
One of my favourite games, and the artstyle is so bloody good
this game looks unreal on PC. I uninstalled it though and didn't take any screenshots
This gen especially is god awful for low budget Japanese games. The environments look worse than they did on N64.
Posting the king of sprite art. Street Fighter 3 and Yoshi's Island 2 are great, too.
