Doesn't seem bad. But, first time playing it, they basically throw everything at you, and it's a bit overwhelming.
Over than that, it's kinda slow and only focuses on the classical era, so, you'd expect a bit more depth than Civ which covers all of human history, but, there's no as much depth as you'd expect.
The way orders work is kinda weird and basically punishes you for buying more units than you can actually order around. Which is a bit odd.

It's early access and it's epic only, so that's a no.
Looks interesting though, will definitely give full release a try. I like the concept of giving your rulers and family tree a big focus, and also the events seem like a fun addition.

Its alright for a few runs, but it won't give you the Civilization bug, where you start over and over. Also its not all soft power, there's some straight up war between factions.

The dynasty/heir system is interesting and I like the visuals, but I'm concerned that it focusing only on Ancient/Classical era might limit replay value. Haven't sat down to watch much gameplay so I don't know how much it differentiates from Civ.
Hopefully they'll release a demo at some point, but for now I'm more interested in Humankind.

Events like "Weary veteran" turn up, where you've found some old warrior and you can have them teach your civ some new tech, or provide some sort of bonus.
Except the warrior is a woman, which makes no sense in the time period of given we're talking about humans.
