Unpopular Opinion

Druckmann's got balls to take this big of a story risk with his career on the line. He could've just written a mediocre fan service sequel and collected a paycheck.

>He could've just written a mediocre fan service sequel and collected a paycheck.
He did

subversive doesn't mean good

mediocre implies at least somewhat serviceable

What I find amusing is how the fans complain at the same time how he wrote a fan fiction and how what he wrote is not what the fans would write.

So BRAVE

So brave!

Stop shilling the cuck.

i dont think the narrative shifting with flashbacks is a bad idea, in fact it has already been done in the first game. all i want from this is to not be filled with anti white-christian male agenda, but it is too late for that wish

>all i want from this is to not be filled with anti white-christian male agenda
It doesn't seem to be the case at all though.

>ride or die loyal fanbase to the company
>risk
Naughty Dog will always sell well no matter how bad the game actually is

Well, that is one way to say the fuck got really high on undeserved praise and now he thinks he's a genius who can get away with anything.
I call it "absolute lack of self-awareness" and "delusions of grandeur", but you can call it "having balls" if you really need to cope that much.

what an ugly, greasy creep

He's not putting anything on the line. The guy is a jew with connections in the industry.

>career on the line

I'm asking seriously here: When was the last time a member of his tribe took a career hit for doing goofy shit like he does?

This. Whatever this turns out to be, they didn't spoon feed the fans. Fans think Joel should die protecting Ellie after they spend another game just fighting

It takes infinitely more balls to follow up on a story and make it good rather than retconning stuff for the sake of difference and novelty. That's hackey, like imagine if I just made princess peach the bad guy and said this entire time she was the bad guy and that bowser was actually trying to stop her from resurrecting an ancient god monster so Mario and Bowser team up to stop one winged angel peach.

Unpopular Opinion: You need to wait the full game to draw conclusions. Context is important

Kojima unironically did it better and with more tact.

Nah, if this is executed poorly he won't be able to find a job mowing lawns. He knows his chips are all in

That's not an unpopular opinion though, we just all agreed that he failed miserably. You win some, you lose some.

Begging for brownie points with narrative is the absolute opposite of courage these days. It’s more of a sign of living in an unhealthy dev/game journo bubble.

Talentless hacks can still be brave

Roseanne.

Maybe, but I'll reserve "failing miserably" for June 19

Bullshit.

Somebody else rewrote the same story to be more engaging:

> start playing as Abby n' friends
> character building, make us like them
> they're after someone, who?
> disk 1 finale: ohshit it's Joel
> kill joel, switch to ellie
> rest of game is revenge story/come to terms with Joel's lie
> kill Abby n friends, the end

Same result, more catharsis since we want to kill the shit out of these people now. Druckmann's an idiot

What I see is mostly catering to people who value writers over writing. I feel as though I'm supposed to feel Neil's emotions from writing this mess rather than empathize with any of the characters.

You play as Ellie last 1/3 of the story

yeah that would rule

He's not taking a risk, he was sure he was going to sneakly shove his shitty propaganda down people's throat by tricking the people that still think naughtydog is the same one of the Uncharted trilogy, Crash and Jak and Daxter.
That's why they are so desperate in deleting the leaks and DMCA everyone, because they know that the game is shit and they know that even the fans of the original won't buy this one if they get to know the kind of crap they are shoving into.

>it takes balls to keep pushing the same SJW narrative they have been pushing for the last 5+ years

I'd play that
