Death Stranding
Death Stranding
this was a sophisticated game that not many understand
>coworker claims to love the game and lets me have his copy since he bought the Collectors Edition
>play it and love the game, finish the entire way through, get five stars on each prepper, etc
>find out yesterday he never finished it; got bored / filtered a few hours in
Thanks for the game dude.
All of my frens hate it and cant get past the thought that its a walking simulator, even though it has more depth than many recently released games. Its so much more interesting too, all the afterlife stuff, chirality, Ha and Ka, timefall, voidouts, BBs, BTs. So much going on I love it.
This, it's a Kojambles game at its peak, no restraints like with MGSV
walking simulator
Walk on over here and lemme say hi
>Kojima managed to blast this out in 3 years
>MGSV was unfinished after 5 years
More proof that kojima while being a fucking loon still knows what he's doing.
I genuinely think its his best work, played alot of games but never seen a finale like this. All of his experience accumulated for this and it actually feels technically impressive aswell. It might have been made in 3 years but Death Stranding is a game that has been in making for decades. One of a kind game, seriously. I propably sound pretentious as hell but thats how I feel about it. youtu.be
They should have just made a game about that riding show on AMC where the death stranding guy rides around the country. You could ride beside him and do bro stuff
Why do you think Kojima told Sam to talk so gravelly? Sam doesn't smoke, and he's shown to speak / talk normally at certain points. Was it supposed to be a callback to Snake's voice?
Also the brawl between Sam and Higgs was 100% a reference to pic related and made me grin like an idiot.
I think despite it's flaws, I'm not going to forget this game and my experience with it. I'm happy I got to experience it myself before having to read the waves of shit involving the game.
Yeah Norman Reedus actually sounds completely different than Sam outside of the game, guess thats just his idea of cool guy voice but I dig him in this role. Higgs is propably the most Metal Gear character in the game, like retarded Ocelot, but in a fun way. I admit that I was big on the actors in the game like I really enjoyed that aspect. Not even actual movie games have such a huge cast and I think they really pulled it off well, especially Die-Hardmans actor who is a theatre actor mainly just shined in this game. And of course Mads Mikkelsen was insanely cool. Its a charming cast that really belongs into the world and it didnt take me out of it.
>get to the mountains for the first time
>youtube.com
Mgs5 wasn't unfinished retard.
>apocalyptica isn't in the game
I loved it unironically. I liked MGS more but I'm excited to see what kojima has for the future. A shame he was forced to make games he didn't like for so long.
Sam's combat is a reference to CQC as well except he does it much more awkwardly.
For the longest time, I had been thinking of a game concept where it's tough to walk around in the environment. Open world environments always feel so pointless because there's no difference whether you're running on a road, in a forest or in a swamp
My mind was a bit blown when I finally realized that Death Stranding is using the concepts I had thought about. I still haven't played it, but it's really intriguing. I always imagined the game being more than just a delivery simulator though, from what I understand, that's pretty much all this game does
Oh well, at least you can still listen to it online.

Your idea of harder to traverse terrain is the entire game with a balls to the wall Kojumbo plot
I really wish I saved that recent interview with the writer of the game. It was meant to use cut content as a way of inducing phantom pain on the player. That was the whole idea.
It's a fucking shit game regardless. Hopefully some user has the link to the interview.
>no ingame music player
What blows me away is that he had the entire plot figured out before he even had an engine picked out. He didn't even write it down for a while but made that first trailer from it and that scene remains nearly unchanged in the final game
>Source: Trust me bro
DS does a great job of making the environment the enemy. And inventory management is key. I will have to say though late game upgrades take most of the environmental difficulty out of the game but the boss fights make up for it. It's truly a great game and will for sure be a cult classic.
Yeah that's what I gathered. I don't think I really imagined all the balancing stuff as well though, they really went all the way with it. Curious to play this though, I already know I'm not going to finish it but I want to test it out
There's a significant amount of combat around the second half of the game but the priority is mainly optimizing your travel/weight distribution. You can beat this game in 30 hours and not get burnt out, but it does become more harrowing if you choose to do every delivery.
>It was meant to use cut content as a way of inducing phantom pain on the player.
Yeah, that shit kills me. I get why it's not there throughout the campaign, but it should definitely have been an unlockable once you're done with the story missions
30 hours sounds like bullrushing the story and not touching any side content
>1 out of 5
>tfw getting one more star sticker to put on your suit after playing all night into the morning just to max affinity one prepper
Yeah and the soundtrack is just perfect. People who didnt play the game think its just licensed songs but it has original soundtrack composed by Ludvig Forssell and he did a fantastic job. Low Roar is so magical aswell, just an icelandic indie band that Kojima heard in a store and it adds so much soul to the game. I would never know about them if it wasnt for the game and I listened to them every day since I saw the first trailer for Death Stranding. The game has such a floaty atmosphere if you know what I mean, like walking on clouds, very melancholic and sometimes even hopeless, but in the end it leaves you full of hope. Its not needlessly edgy, its not a torture porn that goes for shock value but it can be genuinely heartbreaking and it ends with positive message. Im aware its not a perfect game, but its incredible and the hate it gets is just unfathomable to me. I really dont understand.
I meant to imply that but I guess I didn't. I ended up putting in over 100 just because I enjoyed it so much, but I know some people don't enjoy the traveling back and fourth and just want to see everything there is (even though you miss out on some kick ass upgrades like the speedy mech suit)
The real Death Stranding is the friends we made along the way.
