Just play Star Citizen haha

how can space sims exist when space isnt real

This

star citizen counts as a game yet?

Yes
Elite is forgotten and Star Citizen is a literal scam

>not playing X4

everyone and their mother shat on X4 when it first came out. the X series in general look like the xray engine, but space

>look like the xray engine, but space
you say this like it is a bad thing

It was shit. 3.0 made it pretty good. It still has some bugs but fuck having a fleet of ships is fun.

>call it a space "sim"
>gameplay is dogfighting at 200 meters like this is fucking world war 2

Every single time

The alternative is everyone sitting millions of kilometres apart, trying to predict each other's trajectories

Watch babylon 5

The X series without exception always has garbage releases. 1 year after all the patching has been done is the safer bet.

okay so what's the genre

At least it would be novel

6DoF dogfighters or something.

yeah i rather just stick to 'space sim'

tried; it really ain't for me

Is that Nexus: The Jupiter Incident?

freespace 2

Yes, because fun is more important than realism.

>everyone and their mother shat on X4 when it first came out.
>x4
are you sure your not thinking of X:Rebirth? X4 is a different game completely.

I would be happy with an expanse style game (pre protomolicule) with a decently modeled solar system.

idk man, probably? x4 came out like a year or two ago and flew under my radar hard

ngl nowadays big open systems dont do it for me. just give me a linear plot and a nice set piece and lemme shoot shit in space

sounds like you want an on the rails shooter with 6DOF, i too miss the xwing/tiefighter games since starwars died from being bit by that mouse.

four more years

Vectors at close range are still harder to trace, ya spastic

:^( i just want fun, man. tycoons and capitalism simulator ain't fun for me.

Rebel Galaxy 1 my man on steam

>Get hyped for Rogue System
>DCS tier button-clicking simulator for autists
>... But in space
>Even considered falling for the early access™ meme
>Dev has some sort of accident and literally splits his skull open.
>Development stops
Thanks Obama

I just spent two thousand dollars on PC parts after not having a decent PC and I come back and you fucking absolute fools still haven't made a decent space sim? I waited ten years for this bullshit? I get fucking Elite: Tedious and THE SAME FUCKING SPACE SIM I WAS EXCITED TO PLAY TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO WHEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED, ONLY NOW EVEN MORE OF A SCAM AND WITH HIGHER SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS? I SPENT TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THIS?

>Dev has some sort of accident and literally splits his skull open.
is there any proof this actually happened or is this another case of "the sun told me to stop development"

>Implying $2000 is a lot of money

why would you buy a new car when you dont even know where you want to drive it first?

I built it for games in general but it's fucked that my favourite genre has had literally zero games in the last ten years you could universally call good, at best it's been "yeah after patches it's less shit".

wtf this is fascinating

>literally zero games in the last ten years you could universally call good, at best it's been "yeah after patches it's less shit".

doesnt that just sum up every genre of gaming in the past 10+ years? Maybe you should try //vr/

>doesnt that just sum up every genre of gaming in the past 10+ years
I wouldn't say that, no. I've enjoyed like 10 games since I built my PC and I've only had it for a couple weeks.

Dunno, don't care. Game is never happening

Ye, it's also dead

>Ye, it's also dead
what a shame

well considering i put 350 hours into my most recent x4 playthrough and before that 110hrs in pathfinder: kingmaker you must be playing some weak ass insert coin games in the past couple of weeks. Maybe you just lack the attention span for some types of games. I know plenty of guys who see shit like mount and blade and think its dope and buy it but haven't got the patience to slowly build up a force and get involved in realm politics to get to the epic battles.

So they fire up the game, walk around for 5 minutes, attack the first guard they see, die then uninstall and say it was a bad game.

What are you sperging out about, do you speak English? In fact one of the games I did enjoy was Bannerlord.

> In fact one of the games I did enjoy was Bannerlord.
Well we have come full circle now, bannerlord is the very definition of a game "yeah after patches it's less shit".

Bannerlord hasn't even technically been "patched" yet, the game isn't even out.
