According to company spokespeople, Capcom's decision to sell its product in what many consider to be a confusing and unnecessary fashion is not based on a specific study or survey of consumer demands, but rather on the company's desire to make a resounding display of its corporate might.

Several major developers attempted to improve on signature titles by remaking them with new technology, but the remakes often failed because of difficulties with interpretation and fan loyalty.

"The remakes didn't fail because they were repetitive, but because they were not repetitive enough," Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto said. "With our new remade remakes, that won't be a problem. A do over is nothing. I could urinate twice for you right now and it would be boring. But 3 times? That's untouchable."

Resident Evil 1 in the RE engine would be great but I'd rather not play another Resident Evil remake before a new one, especially after RE3's remake. They could remake DMC1 or actually make DMC2 good in the RE engine.
