I never played this game besides 5 minutes against bots when it was a fad. So I'm going to pretend like I was a pro gamer back in the day and live vicariously through 1v1 duel frag compilations of pros from 20 years ago and pretend like that was the average skill level of people playing the game back then.
Anyway I totally love quake 3 arena, fellow gamers. Fuck fortnite, am I right? And fuck quake champions, it isn't even real quake! I would know, trust me. The jaded old man ex-quake pro, that was totally professional and won lans, uh totally back in the day. Fucking zoomers I swear.
>Fuck fortnite, am I right? And fuck quake champions, it isn't even real quake signed signed, quake isn't about e-sports, quake is about fun those games don't have player created levels, player created skins, or player created mods they don't even have player created servers
quake was was for people that liked quake, and that's why quake 3 is still the premium title it is today ps fuck people that didn't like quake 3 team arena, overload and 1-flag ctf are the best team based gametypes i've played in all my years of multiplayer gaming
Asher Davis
This is a cope. You fags larp hard as le jaded quake pro esports gamer then when anyone calls you out it’s “bro quake was never about 1v1s it was about just chillin in servers and having fun with mods maaaaan!”. I hate disingenuous retards that can’t keep their story straight.
Dylan White
oh man did you just say the c-word? that must mean you win the argument
accept my concession, argument-winner you won
Asher Foster
didn't play it when it came out 'cause I was a li'l babby but I've played about 6K hours of TF2 and 1K hours of Reflex
QL/vQ3 Kinda sucks armor too small movement too gimped weapons too balanced
Jose Phillips
quake 3 was on the competitive ring for like 2 years before it was overshadowed by UT and then CS
Evan Phillips
>overshadowed by UT that never happened what did happen though, in 2001 which was 2 years after quake 3, was rtcw
ps et sucks
Zachary Bennett
Thanks
Don’t forget shitty netcode compared to cpm, vq3 and ql netcode are genuinely awful.
William Ward
How many times have you posted this pseudo larp? What are you coping for?
Nathaniel White
based Also freeze tag is the actual best team based game mode.
Mason Lopez
>and pretend like that was the average skill level of people playing the game back then. Based. I love how most people love to pretend that the average quake player was that good, funny since only a ridiculously small fraction of the Quake Live players base managed to complete the movement tutorials.
Zachary Reed
Man, that's a lot of cope from a zoomer that's mad he wasnt born when Q3 was out.
John Gray
Went to qcon a few times in the golden age. My clan competed and all that. Never won, though I think one of our teams made it to semifinals once. Think that was 01 or 02. Good times.
Nathaniel Wright
Rtcw was never as popular, but goddamn it should have been. What an amazing game that was.
David Robinson
I've given up on all competitive shooters. I'm never going to be in the top 10% so there's always going to be some guy in the lobby who completely curbstomps me with way better aim.
Tribes: Ascend though, THAT was a fucking fun game. Even if I sucked at aiming, it felt more leveled because aiming was more about accounting for projectile travel time than lining up the crosshair with your target. The average person is not as good at the prior. Beyond that, you could focus more on just going fucking fast and being a total flag grabbing speedcunt, half the fun was in mastering the movement itself rather than just aiming, and then it became a juking game if you had someone chasing you. OR you could be a fat asshole base defender or setting up defenses as an engineer. Or a sniper but snipers are shitty funstoppers in every game.
God I miss that game, it's the most fun I've had in any online game ever.
was a fun game they dont make fun games anymore :(
Ryder Brooks
I would literally be in the call of duty league if I just focused on cod years ago instead of playing other games. Never had friends good enough to grind GB's and Wagers, never got a paddle controller, never got fiber internet, it goes on and on.. I hate my life
Wyatt Richardson
A lot of fags are seething that the only "old" multiplayer FPS that still manages to have big community is Counter-Strike. Hell, even 1.6 still manages to get around 15-20K players while QC struggles to keep their 1K concurrent players. Also, due to people not comprehending the mere concept that people have different tastes, they need to bitch and moan about other people's choice in videogames but without being called an underaged faggot or a casual. That's why a lot of people call themselves Quakefags/Doomfags to avoid criticism, without realising that a lot of people do exactly the same thing to the point that you can't even have a normal CS/Quake/Doom discussion without some random sperg chimping out about muh true FPS.
Adam Phillips
Cope, zoomer.
Joshua Jackson
The original Tribes with mods was the most fun I’ve had in an online game, especially with expanded base building. Vehicles, skill based gameplay, 64 players on a map - OVER DIAL UP - and it was fan fucking tastic.
They don't? There are a couple of quakelarpers who ruin FPS threads and people call them a faggot. That's pretty much it
David Cox
>ruin FPS threads at best halo and arena threads >and people call them a faggot that doesn't happen
Sebastian Campbell
It's only claim to fame is it made devs and consumers purchase effects chips and it was made by John Carmack Unreal is the better engine overall, Half-Life is the better game, Unreal Tournament is the better arena shooter, John Romero went and made Daikatana, etc. Quake was a product of its time. In the words of Duke Nukem: "I ain't afraid of no quake".
