Shake sold badly because it was a console game that offered less than its predecessors. It’s a watered down WL4, which is unfortunate because it has a beautiful artstyle and good soundtrack.

I kind of disagree on Wario Land not being able to work today, but I do agree that it would need to be innovated on more. Even compared to other games in the series, Shake It! really did feel basic once you got past the gorgeous visuals.

I personally consider both it and Wario World to be a part of the same lineage despite lacking the Land nomenclature, but even at worst it’s hard to say they aren’t at least spiritual successors.

Because running and jumping was too much work for Wario, and it’s completely within his character to want to make money by churning out dozens of microgames instead of putting the work into a bigger adventure.

Wario Land is good and should be put more in Smash. Some dumbfuck tried that in a Melee-like Brawl build and it was awful so maybe I am wrong.

Usually something provokes him first. The stolen statue, his stolen treasure, the music box absorbing him, etc

people have this misconception that using things from source material is always good, even when it’s taken completely out of context

Whatever you played likely wasn't Project M. They kept his Down Special as it was in Brawl, but gave him the shoulder bash, the ground pound, and him punching the ground to make a small tremor. They also added a stage that was the same layout as WarioWare without the Microgames changed to be the Shake King's place.

Wario World is as much of a Wario Land game as Super Mario Land is one of the original Super Mario Bros. games. Make of that what you will.
