Best assassins creed games?

2 and Black Flag are the only games worth playing.
My favorite games are unironically 3 and Unity.
Start with 1, for all it's flaws it's a tight plot, great characters, and a great introduction.
Gotta agree with this guy, but add Black Flag.
Didn't really like BF that much, but 100% agree about the first one, it was great.
>Best
AC2, Black Flag, Origins
>Worst
AC3, Syndicate, Odyssey
>Decent
The rest
This guy is 100% right.
And this guy is Eziofag and a plotfag which is based, but he's wrong about 4. Just don't treat it as Ass Creed game and pretend that you are a pirate yar harrr
That way it becomes quite "fun".
I personally quit at Unity.
3 wasn't bad. The only thing is how long it took for the story to get going.
>Just don't treat it as Ass Creed game and pretend that you are a pirate yar harrr
And that's why it's the best Asscreed game, all the obnoxious series staples don't show up until the end (except for trailing missions)
Is Rogue any good? Got it for a dollar just now.
>Just don't treat it as Ass Creed game and pretend that you are a pirate
Doesn't that defeat the point of plating an AC game though. If you don't care about "assassin" aspect just play some other actually good series. That's why I don't care about the newer ones. They just aren't AC games
You're technically still doing assassin shit, just not the AC lore definition of Assassin.
There isn't any other historically inspired adventure games
I ain't trying to play some grand strategy bullshit where you stare at a map for 12 hours
This is correct. The people that think AC games should just be fantasy hack and slash games set in historical time periods are retards, but also the target audience now.
>playing the Ezio games without AC1
Revelations must have been kind of weird.
Nah I don't want fantasy either. Asscreed has too much fantasy shit. The ""lore"" is absolutely cringeworthy and the modern day is a waste of time. I want pure history games.
I actually liked Desmond
He was mostly a dumb idiot , it worked fine in AC1 when he was a "nobody" kidnapped for his heritage, but when he joined the hacker gang and revealed more of his family shit it was just ridiculous.
Modern day really jumped the shark in Ac2, it was only successful and intriguing in AC1.
Unity > brotherthood > 2 > rogue > syndicate > origins > revelations > 3 > 1 > black flag > liberation > oddysey
A series of unconnected history games under the same banner would be nice but that's not how this series was conceived. And the transition towards this has not been smooth at all, because it just makes the previously established contextualization utterly useless. Why bother having an animus based hud for example, and clearly we're never getting proper sequels anymore either. They're trying to please too many ppl at this point.
I am kind of on the same boat... i decided to skip 3 and black flag and just went with Unity because i wanted to roleplay a Musketeer and there are no Musketeers games. So far the main story hasn´t really progressed at all so i am thinking it doesn´t really matter which one you go with. Go with whatever setting you think you´ll enjoy.
I myself don´t care about the new ones though because i don´t give a fuck about either egypt or ancient grece.
>because it just makes the previously established contextualization utterly useless
They already did that when they decided to drag the series on forever. Just get rid of it.
I honestly agree. I would prefer NO modern day at this point. And if they dropped the whole "Assassin's Creed" pretense they would be better off.
Exactly. But I'm worried that's what they were trying to do with Odyssey. They ramped up the fantasy elements and didn't explicitly have "assassin's" and Templars just stand ins that behaved exactly the same way.
They had the wrong idea there.
1 > 2 > brotherhood > revelations > 3 > who cares about anything else
I think that's why odyssey has essentially split the fanbase. They did it in a very non committal way. Also this is Quebec, who isn't competent enough to pull something like that off. It seems like valhalla is going back to the central AC conflict however. This ping pong between satirical AC games and classical/hybrid is really the issue imo.
What did you like about it?
Full of subversive shit from day one, games think Machiavelli was a good guy, ottoman empire was progressive and that carrying Christ from the cross and portraying him as an actor is cool for ppl of all faiths.
Gameplay in Brotherhood is the good. AC II had more influence on next gen games than its given credit for.
AC unity is good for walking round notre damme. Haytham in AC 3 is the best character you can play as. Should have been the whole game.
Keep in mind Ubisoft in general seems to pay attention to a lot of the flak the games get (Just look at how Yves had to comment on "Unity-like experiences" and they're commenting on world size) and I'm sure the fantasy elements were something mentioned there. They've now got Gods & Monsters to work with to get that out of their system so maybe we'll start seeing some easing up on going full fantasy like Odyssey was doing.
The guys behind Valhalla/Origins also make the fantasy stuff either "Animus hacks" that are optional or they use it sparingly, CotP was the only time they went full fantasy in the entire game that wasn't considered a fever dream or an Animus hack so I expect the same kind of care taken for Valhalla. Odyssey for example weaved in all the fantasy elements just to see the Atlantis story through, and they don't even explain it until Fate of Atlantis which itself feels even more fantasy while trying to justify stuff.
Well Ashraf already confirmed the removal of levels, denser cities, return of social stealth , expanded stealth, and reduced fantasy elements.
So as it stands now, I'm all on board.
Lol it was kinda weird the only one I played with Altair was the one on psp bloodlines and I didn’t even finish revelations cuz I scratched the disc
I've played almost all of them, only haven't played Odyssey and am halfway through Origins.
Black Flag > Rogue = Origins > Syndicate > Brotherhood > Unity = 3 > Revelations > 2 > 1
As for the kinda spin off games, Freedom Cry > Liberation and for Chronicles India > China > Russia
