D-pad is a gamble. It may be fine or it may have phantom inputs.

dpad is fucked

get this instead

d-pad is naff, but it's a solid controller overall. I'd personally recommend a Wii U Pro Controller and one of those mayflash converts. That controller kicks all sorts of arse.

Newer models have mostly fixed the dpad, but you'll have to check the box before buying. Also, the triggers are digital, which might or night not be an issue depending on the game. Overall, it's a really good controller.

Honestly, it's mediocre almost shit.

Imput latency is horrible but you most likely wont notice on most nintendo games

Dead zone of the sticks is horrible but you most likely wont notice on most games

Dpad is the biggest piece of shit you could think of and this will legit be noticeable on hard platformers

Feels very cheap in general, it's not Xbox one level of shit but it's not great. The only good things about it are the long battery and the nice analog triggers since there's no other controller with them.

Not at all worth the price nintendo asks for but your only option because chink8bitdos have horrible quality control and dongles for other controllers have even more imput lag

>analog
I meant digital oops

Isn't the 8bitdo pro a better controller?

get this one

>better d-pad
>concave buttons
>analog triggers (although they register as digital on the switch)
>works on PC too

how is the dpad or fighting games?

man that one looks awesome. How does it perform with fighting games?

I don't play fighting games on my switch, but I haven't had any issues with incorrect inputs or anything

For the switch, it's great, I honestly love the feel of it in my hands and can play with it for hours on end, compared to both the xbox one and ps4 controllers, which I can play maybe an hour tops before my hands cramp or thumbs feel like i'm rubbing them raw. Recently been playing MK11 using it on PC, and the D-pad is hot garbage though, i'll be pushing down and then left or right, and it'll act as if I pushed up and that direction.

I purchased the black version of this and the buttons are very slightly convex. I feel like the design for this was based around Dualshock4. The thumbsticks and triggers have the same shape/design as DS4. Would not recommend purchasing any other third-party controller - most feel really fuckin' cheap; one is even a repurposed ouya controller.

>d-pad
memes

Only the one colored like the NA SNES controller has the concave buttons

It's comfy, but the d-pad is shitty. I think the newer ones are supposed to be better, but it still won't have a pivot to move around on, so it is still a bad design. It's usable though, not a huge problem. Other than the d-pad, it's pretty great.

Do GameCube controllers work for games besides smash? I have a mayflash adapter and I'm thinking of picking up a switch and I want to know if I need to get a pro controller or not

I don't have one, but I don't see why it wouldn't. It might play odd for non smash games since they weren't made with the gamecube controller in mind, but it should still technically work fine.

Shit controller, had one for over a year and my least used.

Shoulder buttons are dogshit, d pad os garbo, and face buttons are giant and mashy; not good for most game in general. Wait for the PS5/Xbox controller, they will likely be better.

Noice. Thanks buddy

They dont, not even the pro controller works with many Switch games

Used it constantly for over a year and no complaints. Apparently some earlier builds had input issues with the D-pad, but mine from a year ago is fine.

Good form, terrible insides.

As an idort:
Xbone > Switch > Dualshock

The only games i've encountered that my pro controller doesn't work with is let's go pikachu/eevee.

I found a list of a handful of titles but it looks like I should just get a pro. It's whatevs

For some games it works fine but the for games that need shoulder buttons and triggers it's a gamble since the GC con troller only has two "triggers" and the Z button on the back.

Tried it with Animal Crossing yesterday and couldn't access the phone because it recognizes the gamecube triggers as an L and R instead of a Zr and ZL. Found that I could do the little skrrt run thing better with the Gamecube controller because the left stick on the gamecube controller is just better.

Yes, but not sure if it works with every game

Are you using it for your Switch or for a PC? If it's for the Switch then it's good, although you'd have to hope that you don't get one with a defective d-pad. It's a solid choice for PC games, although the lack of analog triggers makes it unsuitable for certain games (racing games, games with driving controls like GTA, emulating certain games like Mario Sunshine, etc.)

The only issue with using a Wii U Pro controller with the Switch is that the rumble doesn't work at all.

Thanks for the heads up friends

It feels great, but it has issues. Shoulder buttons are inconsistent, dpad is bad, sticks can drift. As a PC controller, Xbox one is the better choice. For switch, it's the best option out there. You may consider getting a alternate controller for 2d games.

I exclusively use it for pc gaming. Cool thing is that steam has drivers for it so all you need todo is launch the game through steam
This works with games you buy on the epic game store

>As a PC controller, Xbox one is the better choice
>no gyro

It's pretty good on pc, you can map the gyro motions to output a mouse

It's a really good controller. Ergonomic, long lasting battery, and HD rumble is really good when utilized correctly. Biggest problem is the dpad. But if you're not playing a lot of 2D fighters it may not be that big of a deal to you. Don't have too many problems with 2D platformers.

But wash you hands and try to keep it clean. Because I've found its the controller that gets most ugly with use. When it's new it's transparent but smokey grey. After using it for awhile it gets greasy looking when that layer corrodes and starts looking like and old 90s transparent device. Which is kind of cool actually and makes me wish Nintendo went straight clear and would introduce more colors.

>xbox level of shit
Xbox controller is great if not the best around the fuck you talking about

>not even the pro controller works with many Switch games
name some

Honestly overrated as hell. I got fooled into buying it. The dpad is trash and the analog sticks feel way to loose

It's great apart from the d-pad. I mean, you can use it for menuing and shit, but actually playing some platformer with it is another thing.

If you're playing PC shooters with a controller at all you're doing it wrong. Gyro is useless for pretty much anything else.

I must be the only person on the planet whose pro controller d-pad works fine.
beats the living shit out of the clicky xbone one, and the ps4 button pad

Oh yeah, it also lacks gyro which makes it non-optimal for games like Splatoon.

I never trust third party, they always last a few months but people still insist on recommending them

I have a ds4, xbone and pro controller. The pro controller is easily the highest quality .

>Gyro is useless for pretty much anything else
That's where you're wrong, kiddo.
Consider a game like GTA for example, where you're constantly switching between driving and walking/shooting. Do you actually switch input for that or god forbid use keyboard and mouse for driving?
