>Reloads faster than the S&W somehow
>Even though that was the one main advantage of that gun

I wanted to use the Lemat but those fucking niggers at rockstar decided to make it online mode only and I'm not buying the game again on PC.

Cattleman in main holster
Sawed-off Shotgun with slugs in 2nd holster for special occasions
never dual-wield

Just started this today am I gimping myself by not exploring the world and just sticking to quests?

Online sucks anyway

You're missing out on a lot of shit because the game has tons of unique events you can find out in the wild.

Based. Same in Max Payne 3, the default pistol you start every level with will carry you through if you just head shot everything.

You really should explore a bit, like once you reach the Horseshoe Overlook camp near Valentine is a perfect time to put the story on hold and go check some shit out

At the very least, do most of your exploring before the end of Chapter 4

Thé Lemat is awesome but it triggers my autism too much when they treat a cap and ball gun like it’s a cartridge revolver. Same for the 1851 Navy.

I use either a set of Colts or S&W, matching except that the hip holster is the long barreled ‘cavalry’ version, and the crossdraw is one of the ‘quickdraw’ short barrel models.

Online, I use Navy Colts. Story, Schofield.

Why does everything in this game look so foggy.

Just a friendly tip - go to the Gun Shop and you can select "equip to shoulder" or "equip to back" etc etc and basically register your preferred guns to those slots

This will keep you from having to always re-equip them when dismounting which is a pain in the ass

I think I only bought 2 guns the whole game because I explored and found "free" ones

Apart from just fun missions and such, there is a lot of great weaponry and useful stuff that you can get through exploration. Like finding underground businesses to rob, homes to burglarize, etc.

Not really. Unless you care about extra content, it doesn't sound like you do, the only reason to wander away from main quests is to pick up guns earlier than you're supposed to have them. I went looking for the pump action shotgun that was hidden in a cabin because I wanted more firepower.

IIRC you can get a really good shotgun very early in the game from that shady lady's house who ask you to go in the basement
Don't remember where she is though

You can purchase it at the Saint Denis gunsmith after that mission where you rob the boat in chapter 4

Rockstar changed it so you can get the LeMat in story mode as well. It unlocks in the middle of chapter 3.

>exploring around south Lemoyne
>come upon Catfish Jackson's
>mask up, bust down the door, pull shotgun on old man and his son
>old man draws a gun, shoot him
>hogtie his son
>debate if I should kill him or not, decide yes because no witnesses
>find a letter from his mother in the house saying she can't wait to see him
>feelsbad
>later get a debt collection mission from Strauss
>"Down near...Catfish Jackson I believe"
>oh
>haha
>wheres that I never been there before

>using rifles

I use the pc exclusive semi-auto pistols

you can also use it to set your preferred sidearms

When did they add that and can you get extended barrels?

>semi auto
Fuck off thumblet

My online character is a fancy Belgian gunslinger who uses always uses a Browning.
I just hate that you can’t get a holster that properly fits any of the semiautomatic pistols, or a more fitted gunbelt.

>can you get extended barrels?
yes

Yes. You're looking at the extended version, I believe.

My nigga

>I think I only bought 2 guns the whole game because I explored and found "free" ones
same but i got a bunch of free ones from rescuing strangers who let me put a gun on their tab

It bothers me that they screwed with the grip angle on the Browning and the Borchardt purportedly so they fit the grip animations for everything else, yet it appears that it would still fit decently anyways.

The whole weapon system in RDR2 is one of the things I disliked most about it because it was all so pointless. The cattleman revolver will kill basically anything in 1 shot anyway.

Just started playing thanks to gamepass, any good tips for slingin' guns?

for me its the evans repeater

I'm a navy revolver man, but I keep a cattleman's in a second holster just to display it since it is a nice looking gun.

I prefer the Lemat, 9 shots and I can blow people's heads apart with the shotgun barrel

I loved the inventory system, having guns stored on your saddle and having to choose a couple to bring at any time.
That was something I always wanted out of a western game.

Such peasants you are...

I know it wont be in singleplayer because rockstar don't do that, but can you get it in singleplayer with mods?

>online only
Fuck Rockstar.

if you're playing online, save up for the trader business first then buy the medium wagon ASAP, then the large wagon and hunting wagon. put all your money towards these three wagons and soon you'll be making $625 per delivery. get the moonshine shack next and you'll soon be rich.

But the C96 is my pistolfu.

>They could have at least modeled a cartridge converted Navy
>Instead explicitly made it a cap-and-ball gun with the animations of a cartridge gun
The Evans was always just kinda goofy and awkward though.

I didn't bother with online until recently, but it's actually not bad. The four roles (bounty hunter, pelt trader, moonshiner, treasure hunter) can all be advanced solo, there's a ton of other things to do, and the online community generally keeps to themselves. I thought I would hate it, but I love it. Some cons though - all four roles are hidden behind either a long-ass grind or mtx for gold bars, and the servers are janky as all fuck come evening when everyone logs on.

This is the first time ive ever seen one of these. I just keep staring at it
