Why do some people have such a problem with fanservice? If they're so averse to it, why not just ignore it or play something without it? I don't like visual novels, but I don't complain about them existing. I just choose to play other things.
Why do some people have such a problem with fanservice? If they're so averse to it...
A bitter mindset. If I don't enjoy it nobody should enjoy it. These people have never had anything they truly enjoy in their lives.
What makes ti worse is that the all the dissenters try and make it seem like they're coming from a place of concern for people who do like fanservice, when in reality, they're mocking them for daring to like something harmless.
Because they don't allow any dissenting opinions from theirs.
>inb4 Zig Forums does the same
Games that lean heavily on it to sell copies are generally worse than games where the selling point is some other aspect.
depends on what you mean by fanservice. Random panty shots in a serious game aren't funny or interesting. In a game like Bayonetta yeah well... look at the subject matter.
Oh boy here we go again
I typically don't play those games, but let's not act like people don't have a problem with a game having any at all.
I don't have problem with fanservice but sometimes its used as cover for a shallow character or game.
That's fine and good, but some wish those games to not exist at all, rather than just ignoring them.
Well then that's their problem and you shouldn't make it your problem.
So what?
Because journalists agree with them and some developers listen to them, rather than listening to their fans.
>Relax no one is going to take away your games
You just want to start yet another shitflinging, don't you?
She looks awesome. She reminds me of a certain smug fighter I'm a big fan of.
>play series
>enjoy sequels
>up until they start cramming fanservice in and it sucks
Sometimes you get it the other way around but not often
You can see why people might be disappointed about that, yeah? Like oh man I can play the hot new sequel to game, game 2: the gamening, but too bad it's constantly ripping on low effort panty shots and abstract boob physics.
I can't imagine being a fan of the xeno series from gears through saga and hitting blade 2 and just... that's the new face of your series.
Is the game outside of that still good, though? The last xeno game I played was xenosaga 3.
Then the problem is from the devs and not the people.
Because it's a crutch. Waifufags are incredibly easy to pander to and will slurp up nearly anything they can post on /e/ like flies on shit.
Fanservice isn't a problem when it exists solely to compliment a good game, like a shower scene or a trip to the beach in an otherwise well-made game. The problem is that instead fanservice is used as a glue to hold an otherwise mediocre game together. The reason so many people have a problem with it is because coomers are willing to forgive an infinite amount of shit game design choices if it has a pretty girl flashing her panties in it. It's reviled because it's an insanely effective "blinder" to everything wrong with an otherwise shit game.
There are many games that are good and that become better with fanservice, but the majority of games that have fanservice have it to compensate for how shit everything else in it is.
But with all the games that don't have fanservice, could you not just ignore it? I don't even have to try and avoid games that have excessive amounts of it because for the most part, they're rarely ever shoved in my face, like most other kinds of games.
Faggots and journalist are not going to get out of there seats and actually do something. Devs just need to grow some fucking balls.
You're not wrong, but journalists and their holier than thou attitudes piss me off. Not only do they know what's best for us, they also think that if dare to disagree, we're the problem.
Of course you CAN just ignore it. But that's like ignoring that a game has horrible music, or that it has a battle system you really don't like, or that there's something about the artstyle that rubs you wrong. You can still ignore those aspects, keep playing, and maybe find a good time somewhere in there.
But that's where the unique problem with fanservice comes in. Because if there are multiple problems, the music, the graphics and the gameplay, but there's an anime whore in a thong on screen people will defend it. Stupid NPC-tier coomers who don't know or care enough will now actively buy, play and spread a bad game. It's a huge selling point to these people if they get to see a cute girl flash her panties to the point that it overrides other aspects of the game.
Fanservice is a force too strong, that is thrown around to carelessly to too great an effect.
LMAO. There's some truth to this.
Because people never shut the fuck up about it. If it's in a game it's nonstop waifu shit. If it's not it's nonstop bitching about censorship. It's insufferable.
Because they're frustrated faggots with a disappointed family, and t don't know shit about being a straight male.
Again, ignore it. No one is forcing you into those threads.
Mediocre games don't deserve much attention, whether it's slavish fans or furious detractors. Cunny games are rarely pretending to be AAA and buying up ad time so that we're forced see it constantly, and purchasing their way into GOTY awards and false legitimacy.
These games practically cease to exist if you stop looking for them. They're niche amongst niches. There's no value in complaining so much about them even if you do dislike them. This is part of why any outrage over them is so performative, it's people putting on a show or a display over how great a person they are for calling Kamitani a pedophile or saying anime butts directly leads to rape culture. Everyone knows the most anyone will ever talk about a number of these games will be the huge faux-viral outrage campaigns demanding the couple thousand gaijin that play them need to stop. It's all so fake.
The funny thing is code vein doesn't even have much fanservice in it, you can just choose not to make a big tiddy girl and don't bring Io around. The amount of fanservice is entirely controlled by you.
Bingo. Fanservice games are so under the radar that you almost have to go looking for them. Meanwhile, sports games and cinematic experiences are all you see if you browse any mainstream outlet.
It's usually implemented by low to medium sized budget games and usually at the cost of gameplay.
>IT'S THE WORST SOULS KNOCKOFF SINCE LORDS OF THE FALLEN BUT IT HAS WAIFUS!
I'd want to be a fan of something before I give a shit about its fanservice.
>These games practically cease to exist if you stop looking for them. They're niche amongst niches.
Are you high? Code Vein (in the OP) sold 1 million copies. Persona 5 sold 3 million at launch. And let's not talk about XC2 or Three Houses. And these are all games hard carried by their slutty female characters.
We made a souls game in the God Eater 3 engine
They're terrified of sex. Something that's sexy must be the work of the devil.
I absolutely loved Code Vein, one of my favorite games of all time.
I just hate all of you fucking coombrains who spam threads with your shitty "pls rate my character #2387" and waifufaggotry. You faggots are so obnoxious that no game discussion is possible with you if it's not about pretty anime characters you created.
Some people are just homosexual or worse yet, radical far left.
Io best girl.
The user(s) you're quoting raise good points and I don't understand your rebuttal. It should be ignored just because it doesn't happen a lot?
>Persona 5
>Code Vein
>Nier
These are all AAA games that sell millions upon millions and are all heavily bloated by fanservice. I don't get this "oh you really have to look hard to find it!" crap when FF15 has a character with a thong so far up her ass I'm surprised you can't see it between her front teeth.
They are filthy normies who dont want to be reminded that their disgusting 3dpd sex is inferior to the ideal held by the ineffably pure hikikoneet
Kinda true, anyway.
I remember saying that I was enjoying the FF7 remake and immediately got shouted down for being a "shill" just for liking the game when it was more unpopular to do so.
But then nobody in Xenoblade 2 threads ever complain about fanservice. Why is that? I've participated in both CV and XC2 and CV gets all the "le coomer game" posts and XC2 doesn't.
it's evil
CV is a bad souls-like with lots of copypasta, while XC2 is a JRPG and the gameplay doesn't matter in JRPG's.
