I've played daily since March 20th. Up until three days ago. I've never felt this good. It's like shackles are finally broken and I can move on with my live. The pressure to check for new clothes/furniture daily. To keep the streak at the ATM going. To shake my trees for two furniture daily. To dig up all the fossils. I haven't done wood cutting or stone mining in over a month already. But now that I haven't touched the game in 72 hours I am truly free. This is what the vacation in the beginning of the game was all about: true freedom from society and its burdens

This one's hard to gauge, frankly. While it's doing great and is prevalent in social media, it feels more like New Horizons achieved meme momentum thanks to the circumstances. I don't know that the series actually does appeal more broadly than its life-sim audience overall. If it's still niche, it's explosively popular within that niche at the least.
