it wasn't the worst...

Desktop version when

i think there was a desktop version already

Diablo II

Elona

What the fuck is up with that phone-tier screen shape?

>Pixel Dungeon
That's really sad, user.

it is a phone game

I see, so its automatically invalid as a video game.

wrong

NetHack is my favorite. Sil-Q, frogcomposband, infra arcana, cogmind, and frozen depths are also good. Pixel Dungeon is braindead phone shit. Going to preemptively bail thread because Zig Forums can't play actual roguelikes and reading any further will surely lead to massive dissapointment.

This

Im talking about shattered user. Though i agree that vanilla is shit

I wish there were more roguelikes similar to Elona and Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode. Big open world to screw around in rather than just a dungeon run.

We get it Evan. The game is good. Now stop shilling your game on Zig Forums

Wayward Souls was quite good.

I like Rogue Fable 3 because it's good for short runs.

Elona is not a roguelike too.

Elona+ Custom G.

I have to say, I never reached the end and I generally don't have any strategy or plan when going at it, but this is still my most played mobile game ever. How do I get good at this?

try UnReal World, it's only 10 bucks on Steam and it's been receiving regular updates since 1992

Maybe not the best but had the most fun with DoomRL, might have to give Jupiter Hell a new chance but not the same. Tome4 comes next but never bothered finishing and lost my unlocks

Caves of Qud is a very good rogulike that is leaving early access this year

How did it improve? I was severely disappointed with the original Pixel Dungeon. It felt too RNG dependent, even for a roguelike.

theres a subreddit and discord for discussions about pixel dungeon as a whole, but they mostly talk about shattered fork there anyway. it basically replaced original as the standard game there. maybe you can find some tips there

I'll check it out, I'm playing shattered pixel dungeon

thats what the mod fixed, the rng dependency. plus a lot of contents and qol improvements. you can win almost any game if you play smart and know how to play your cards right.

Roguelites with permanent unlocks that you work towards each new run > true roguelikes where it's all the same, doesn't matter if it's the first run on a new copy or you got 1000 hours on the clock

doesnt that defeat the purpose of roguelikes? you win because you learn about the game more over time, not because your stats increase for every game

he didn't say that the unlocks would improve your stats to be fair, personally I think roguelikes should unlock harder areas or open up extra routes with new lootables and bosses

For me, it's Tales of Maj'Eyal
