Cutting 40% of the story for starters

Nothing, I'm quite enjoying it after finishing the remake.

>story cut into piece so they can sell it as DLC and movies
>soulless and empty open world
>combat system
>summon system
>the entire game is a clusterfuck

Not enough bro to bro bonding.

Nomura and dlc

I hate when Noctis is dirty in the cut scenes and photos.

> Nomura
I see, Zig Forums is still suffering from the Nomura derangement syndrome.

Gutting the story for a movie/DLCs/etc...
Hold O to win combat
Empty open world
A lot of important shit happening off screen, including character development

Does 7R have a photo mode btw?

Nomura fucked it so much they could barely salvage it from production hell. It's pretty good in its current state with all the DLC included.

>soulless and empty open world
>photo quests, monster hunting, fishing, cooking with your bros, collecting frogs, upgrade parts for Cid, XIV tie-in quest with a cat-girl, that time quest when you fight Cactuar
Come on, this game has above average side-quests.

I like it as a open world road trip simulator with your boys, as a overall game though it kind of lacks.

Nope. I hope they add it in the part 2. Also, it would be nice if the loading screens featured Instagram posts from the main cast like KH3.

shit engine

It's comfy as fuck, so nothing really. Storyfags might be upset but if you want a story just read a fucking book.

>Holy O to win encounters the first hour of the game
Literally the same for all Final Fantasy games.

Better than UE4 that doesn't load textures

c'mon bro, the side-quest are the worst part.

It's this great open world journey that then dumps you on a literal railroad track to the ending.
Personally I loved FFXV, but I can see myself hating it if I'd played it on release rather than the complete windows version with all DLC.

Pretty sure that webm was endgame.

Empty boring open world.
Unfinished game.
Braindead combat.
Only half of the story was in it.

I'm 6 hours into it and liking it for what it is, ie not Versus. Tried it twice before and dropped it both times shortly after getting the Regalia. So far I'm enjoying the road trip dynamic, having to somewhat plan out the path depending on the car's fuel and when night-time hits, as well as trying to be close to the hunts that can only be done then, is ludo.
Which makes knowing how bad the full game is all the worse. I know all about the plot, Luna appearing for like five minutes then dying, the patches, the DLCs, etc. I know there will come a moment where the game will shift gears into full "holy shit what were they thinking" mode and won't stop, and honestly that's pretty sad.

>bring dogtags back to the retarded sounding guy
>twice
>bring a gem to the reporter I wish I could fucking kill
>twice
They're dogshit so far

>Nomura
Development started from scratch. XV is literally not Versus and has nothing to do with it besides some names and character models, not even characters themselves.

It was still Versus during this trailer in everything but name. There's a reason hooded Ravus and Stella are still in it.

It is endgame but it doesn't negate the fact that XV's shitty combat was designed for casuals:

Nomura introduced everything remotely interesting about this setting and the characters that made people give a shit in the first place, only for it to all be removed when he was taken off the project.

Why did Tabata have to be such a faggot?

It's hard to know who's at fault for what specifically besides Square's higher ups fucking up every single project from 2006 to 2016. Tabata had to make a brand new mainline title with Versus' assets, but then you gotta wonder just how many decisions were his, how many were forced, etc.
Was making the game open world a good decision? Was cutting Cor as a aparty member? What happened with Luna when even Episode Duscae hinted at events not present in the game? Hell, the car seen in the final game's intro CG isn't even the Regalia, just how many late minute changes were there?

they should have just let nomura make versus.

>the car seen in the final game's intro CG isn't even the Regalia
holy fuck

lol

I bought it a few years ago, and never was going to actually try it out, but ff7's gameplay was great and I'd like something close. Is the game really as hopeless as everyone says it is?

I played it after finishing 7R. It's not as bad as people make it out to be, but it's rather mediocre aside from the pretty fun fishing mini game and really good OST.

I got this for cheap recently but haven't started playing it. What's the order I should play and watch all the dlc and anime?

It was obviously only about 20% done until they had to put in the finishing touches and ship the game. Even the royal edition is just them polishing an unfinished turd.

It wasn't made by the same team, the gameplay's quite different. You keep a button pressed and move the joystick around for the attacks to change, MP are only ever used to TP around the fight. There are "tech bars" that allow you to order your allies to do certain abilities ala ATB bar. In one of the latest patches they made it possible to play as them so there's that I guess. Even so it's a good example of open world done bad, though your mileage may vary.

I keep crashing with the type F regalia I'm retarded
also I keep forgetting to save while just doing random hunts and then I crash, losing several hoiurs of progress
I like the postgame but fuck me I have to be more careful

To this day I don't know what is more this disappointing, this or MGSV.

MGSV still has good gameplay. FFXV doesn't even have that.

You only really ""need"" to watch the Kingslaive, the movie. If you do feel like going through the whole ordeal, then the anime, Kingslaive, then the game. Play the Gladioulus DLC at the start of the main game's Chapter 8, the Prompto DLC at the start of the main game's Chapter 10, and the Ignis and Ardyn DLCs after finishing the game.

MGSV's gameplay was good. The only problems related to that is how repetitive it could get and how there weren't any actual Ground Zeroes-like bases to infiltrate. The plot is whatever and I guess you could try and make the argument the trailers were misleading but by that point in MGS' history who cares about it when the likes of MGS4 exist.
With XV you had Versus advertized for a decade then the game that comes out not only has nothing to do with it but it's gameplay is, between you and me, pretty shite.
