I only really don't like Byleth as a character. Hero and Joker would be alright if their movesets weren't so cancerous and uncreative respectively. Banjo and Terry are great fun.

He was announce and sold on his own, in timing for his game, perfectly easy to ignore, while Byleth was hidden in a pass, you could buy before both Ultimate and Three Houses were out.

If Three Houses was half as bad or divisive as Fates is among FE fans, there wouldn't be a single soul defending this scam. And the thing is, again, Nintendo bet for this, without knowing how 3H was going to be received.

Not really. Joker and Terry were picks I didn't know I want so it was a pleasant surprise. Also Terry made me want to delve deeper into Fatal Fury/King of Fighters than I did before. Banjo was the only remaining character left that I wanted after Ridley so I'm happy he's in. Hero deserves the spot more than any of the other characters on the list. Byleth I'm indifferent about since I really don't care who gets in after Banjo as long as they're fun to play which all the DLC fighters so far have been.

What makes you seethe over Banjo so much? Even if you're not a fan he's original and not annoying to fight, there are many fighters that are lower quality in concept and execution.

Controversial opinion: as much as I despise Byleth, I find Joker to be worse by a hair, and the biggest stinker of the first Pass. Not only did he have extremely little business being in Smash to begin with, but his moveset was massively phoned in and the almost total lack of SMT acknowledgement is beyond disgraceful (the SNKpalooza that accompanied Terry showed that Sakurai had no good excuse for this either). Sakurai sperged out too hard over the chance to jam Persona 5 aesthetics into Smash and let everything else fall by the wayside.
