this but unironically

>died because an item I wanted was too far down the list

Unironically your fault.

LOL

>turn on active
>turn game speed up to fastest

there you go bro

>turn on 3x speed
Here's your challenge, bro

Imagine being so shit at video games you can't play turn based.

The combat is whatever but it is worth it for the lifestream sequence which is one of the best in video games

It's not about being shit. It's just so boring, like working.

You post this on Zig Forums where a retard couldn't beat FFVI and said the only way out was to grind for hours

More turn based combats should have action commands and minigames à la Paper Mario. More exciting than selecting and letting the whims of the game decide.

>Playing on active mode
Your fault for being a retard

imagine being bad at FFVI

Fucking no. Defeats the whole point of them being turn-based

that is unironically how children beat these

Same. May be about time I get started on my yearly FF7 replaythrough.

Why do people hat gambits when it removes the worst part of JRPGs, aka random encounters that do nothing but pad the run time?

>not arranging your items to put your Megalixirs and X-potions at the top specifically for occasions like this

100 percent your fault

you can manually arrange the list; a shameful display on your part

Is it me or was Safer Sephiroth a fucking great final boss? I beat the game yesterday and it felt so damn satisfying to beat the fucker; like I was literally shouting at the screen when he went down

Based

Menus and video games are awesome

If you don't like the gameplay than its not going to be making the game play itself that will improve it.

Care to elaborate?

I can't tell if this is describing turnbased FF7 or action rpg FF7.

At least the remake has pretty waifus in it. I can't imagine how did the gen xers enjoyed this lego movie game. Much less coom to fucking polygonal Tifa

You ever play a series called Suikoden?

The point of turn-based is building your party and using "strategy" to defeat enemies by issuing commands to your party. Equip the right armor, weapons, buy the right items, manage your MP and so on.
If you add a "press X to dodge" you throw 99% of the gameplay in the trash

turn based is fine, the actual problem is nonexistent balancing aka the majority of final fantasy

I'm fine with more games experimenting with it but I don't want pure turn based games to go away. It's enjoyable to plan out a strategy and see it play out instead of having to also rely on some minigame aspect. Maybe just for special attacks.

ty my dude, never seen that
yeah it's good shit

NOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST PRESS BUTTONS TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN THAT'S NOT A REAL VIDEO GAME

I'm replaying this game.
I'm currently at Mt. Corel.
Thanks for reading.

NOOOO I DON'T WANT TO USE MY BRAIN I WANT TO SEE SPARKLY THINGS AND ACTION ACTION ACTION
I fucking hate zoomers so goddamn much.

leaving stuff up to the imagination makes it better, zoomer

fucking lol, YIIKes was made by people who thought the same thing bro

Kids masturbate to fucking Minecraft porn.

I would agree if you weren't talking about FFVII of all things.

The concept isn't awful, it was just a horrible horrible horrible implementation on top of a game that's already aggressively annoying.

I don't remember, is that before or after Gold Saucer? Cause Gold Saucer is an absolute slog to go through.

FF7 is literally just:
>spam summons
>spam heals
>use limit breaks immediately

Before, Gold Saucer is right afterwards.

I don't think this guy's complaining sometimes it just happens and it's kinda funny. I don't play alot of ff do people not generally play active I'd assume it's more challenging?

Just before. Mt. Corel leads to Corel village, which is the entrance to Gold Saucer.

Man, imagine if you had to walk through this depressing, run down, defunct mining town full of beggars to get on to the tram to Disneyland.

>clicked on buses for an hour just to make this rewardless shitpost

same energy

Spaming summons is dope. Shit golden sun wouldn't he nearly as reveared if it wasn't for those dope ass summons

>spam summons

that's super time consuming

better off just learning a couple of enemy skills and coasting through the game with that

>[ ]
>[| ]
>[||| ]
>[|||||||| ]
>[|||||||||||]
>attack

That's turnbased

>>spam summons
Too slow, MP costly. Spamming regular ass magic attacks is the way to go. Far more powerful than your regular physical attacks and far more efficient than summons.

I get where you're coming from. I'd work around that problem by having "Press X to block" instead, to reduce damages rather than completely canceling them - and equipment could still play a part in it.

It's part of what I never liked in FF7. There was this constant feeling of it being random locations stitched together with very little justification for the party to even be there. It's just
>Sepiroth went this way
>Oops, just missed him. Do a mini-game and then move on, heard he went that way.
>Oops, just missed him.

Oh, ok. I still have PTSD trying to win all those minigames in the GS.

Yeah, they didn't think that through.

Didn't Magical Starsign on DS do this

Turning menu selections into a timed challenge is rather stupid. The ATB system exists so that faster combatants can have more turns and turn order manipulation becomes a strategy element. As a kid I liked to play on Active because it felt more "action packed", but in a world where real time RPGs are more common than turn based ones, playing on Wait to enjoy the strategy aspect more is the only thing that makes sense.

>Spaming summons is dope
oh totally, i love that lightning sage guy
>he doesn't speed through JRPGs using emulators
