did you know the psp can do mp4 video with no tricks involved? I have played back a 256mb file no problem, the thing also recognized a 128gb microsd card with no trickery either.

Related story: I ordered a lightly used PSP right before Christmas, a clear shell, and indigo dye. Made a project out of dying the clear shell atomic purple and transplanting the internals with the black buttons to make it a love letter to old Atomic Purple gameboys from back in the day.

But, I fucked up in a few ways. One, I made the dye water too hot, and I'm sure it slightly warped the plastic frame so it was a couple millimeters off in places that mattered most. Two, I ordered the clear shell from an untrusted chink-shit website, which affected the tiny screw holes, thus impacting the structural integrity of the new shell. Three, I wasn't as careful as I should've been with the PSP's internals. That thing is an engineering nightmare, and the chinks at Sony used ribbon cables for fucking everything. I didn't tear any of them, but my handling of them with tweezers somehow rendered the joystick nub unresponsive.

The transplant and atomic purple dye job was a success, but I was careless and impatient with the end result. Ended up trashing the whole thing.

Same for PSP, Vita didn't have AV out but you can still get PSP composite cables for dirt cheap. Easiest way to play PS1 games if you're hanging on to a CRT.

I didn't take any pics. The whole project lasted 4, maybe 5 hours. As I mentioned, I was so dissatisfied with the end-result and mad at myself for blowing through it so carelessly that I discarded everything.

Same user here. I'm sure shell replacements are a hell of a lot easier than my attempt if you're using official Sony-produced shells OR you're not altering the plastic shell's shape by steeping it in hot water.

As other anons have said if you prefer CRT PSP and Wii have the edge.

the switch certainly has the potential to become something great but we dont have an exploit on the newer models and there still seems to be some risks with cracking your switch.
