Have you played the newest mario pc port?
so with the sm64 being ported to PC does this mean any other 64 game is going to be ported, but maybe easier now that its been done once?
I just wanna know what benefits this will all have outside of a native sm64 and better mods
SM64 was able to be ported because there is a full disassembly available.
There aren't any other N64 games with full disassembles yet, but some folks are working on a few other games such as Ocarina of Time.
It could happen eventually, but don't expect it soon.
Do you know where to find the Mario PC port?
Is anyone working on mods? All I've seen is notable ROM hackers say they're not interesting
discord.gg
Ppl post links in this discord
so how long until we can expect a bunch of mods?
>Super Mario 64 (also available on PC)
>iQue Player
More than likely never. No one wants to work with it because unlike the ROM you can't hide the fact that you've pirated by saying it's been ripped and Nintendo isn't going to buy the fact that you decompiled the game yourself.
Not to mention the majority of people who play ROMhacks these days are poorfags who do it on their phones. Hackers don't want to lose their main audience by working on a platform very few are using. The best you're going to get very minor mods.
>He doesn't know
>No one wants to work with it because unlike the ROM you can't hide the fact that you've pirated
all mods i know are just a rom for you to emulate though, its pretty much piracy, and no one plays mario 64 on phones, that would be terrible
what
My only interest in this version is that someone has started working on proper mouse camera for it, and that sounds pretty interesting.
So does it mean that we could have more level editors and mods ?
That's chinese n64
yes, that's the main selling point, you already could play Mario 64 on PC via emulation but now mods aren't restricted to romhack limitations
>all mods i know are just a rom for you to emulate though
Those are pre-patched that most times have been done by someone other than the author.
>and no one plays mario 64 on phones, that would be terrible
You'd be surprised. Look at the comments section of most ROM hack releases and you'll have a lot of mexicans and BRs asking about having it work on Android.
where did you seen this? i have never seen any comments like his and i played a bunch of mods, and i don't think the authors cares what nintendo would think him, they make the mods for people to play, and its obvious anyone playing will be emulating it
here's your controller bro
Man, you never really remember just how fucking awful the camera and movement is in this game until actually play it again.
The level design is pretty much the only thing that saves it in retrospect.
Mario feels like shit with anything but an n64 controller. The analog stick for the n64 functions like a ball mouse and the range is completely different from modern analog sticks.
tell me more about how Mario Galaxy has the greatest camera and controls ever made
movement is fine. great even.
camera is disastrous.
I can kind of backwards long jump but not efficently enough to do the first fucking skip.
Pain
unfortunately this knowledge will be lost to time
unless the remaster rumors are true people who go back and play mario 64 on modern systems are going to be dealing with a mario that feels awkward to control and it will be remembered as such by future generations
>All I've seen is notable ROM hackers say they're not interesting
Because this PC port just came out and there's no real news regarding mods for the PC port. You just gotta wait patiently. They're figuring it out
not that user. I tried it today with a Wii U Pro Controller. goddamn n64 emulation has sensitive as fuck analog control. probably fine with more practice but still
Thank god that the Mario PC port creator already made camera patch mod.
I'd like to see Smash 64 get ported, imagine the Smash Remix on a PC port
how does it work? Manual camera and changing how it follows Mario passively?
>a new era of custom fg characters
Manual camera except in specific areas where a fixed view is needed. You can switch between auto and manual in the settings and fiddle with it.
nice, thanks. i didn't find the camera terrible but eh 90s stuff. There are usually one or two things that would need tweaked by modern standards
>general
retard
can someone post a link please;
What does the game look like with reshade?
Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Goldeneye, and Perfect Dark are being worked on
Shifting Sands was the first level that annoyed me.
I was just thinking how I got used to the cam but that fucking pyramid is constatnly giving you a big fuck you with how you are allowed to control the cam.
whatever you want?
filtered.
ROM hackers won't care because half the fun for them is making it work within the limits of the ROM/playing it on a real N64. Working with a PC port may as well just be plugging the assets into Unreal for all they care.
Hit 120 Stars and beat Bowser today. Been putting this off for 22 years. Feels good
last time I tried it it was VERY slow. like it was so slow it couldnt keep up with mario.
did the guy speed it up?
>it's been a week since the mod game out
>the analogue camera mod still sucks
I have the correct build flags for the camera but it doesn't seem to work. Do you have to do something else or am I just boned?
I hope people start making cool levels fast, I really cant stand the stuff that is in 64. Only the bowser stages, carpet and clock are fun.
all those open levels suck shit and just waste my time.
