Billy is for sure one of the greatest old school arcade players, but I see him as a tiger king character, it had to be about him and how great he is, and once his record was threatened he just could not stand for it and decided to forge a new record.
He could have retired gracefully and people would still have loved him for who he was, but now he just comes off as a petty man with an ego too big for his flawed character

So this dude set some records, had them challenged, reclaimed them several times, and some of them were on emulators or newer boards that could boot more than one game? And so he then had all of his records stripped? Sounds like he got fucked over in a pretty unfair manner.
That said, his eagerness to sue paints him as a shady, whiny bitch. I don't doubt that he's a masterful DK or Pac-Man player, and it sucks that he lost his titles, but he needs to drop the lawyers and either do other rich person things or just keep on taking his records back even if they aren't officially recognized. Defamation of character is only ever made worse by retaliation. The smart choice is to ignore it.
