I started with Ys I & II on PSP, emulator is easy to run, then after that played Ys Origin that afaik really only ties into those first two games. I was ok with leaving the series there, but if you want to keep going just do the main games. Ys 3, 6, and 7 are on PSP, 4 and 8 are on PS4. That just leaves 5 that was never localized, idk what people do about that but its' far enough away to not worry about.
