Talk CRPG!

I like Icewind dale.
Good taste user!
That one is really fun!
favorites : baldurs gate 2, pathfinder kingmaker and arcanum
worst: blackguards, torment numenera and pillows.
fun party ideas: tech side is underrated in arcanum
Pathfinder Kingmaker is so good at character customization but really kinda meh at just about everything else.
Burned out on BG2, I don't think I'm going to beat it.
How different is Icewind Dale compared?
It's exactly the same game but with more combat options and less story.
Much more combat focused and you custom create your whole party at the start, so roleplaying characters is much easier.
I made a character based on Goblin Slayer.
That actually sounds pretty good. I was starting to get the hang of the whole DnD gameplay with BG2. The problem with games as long as this is if you take a break you come back and have no idea what you were doing.
Is Icewind Dale related to BG in anything but setting?
The setting is still the forgotten realms, but the "story" is different
Literally nothing to do with BG, they just both take place in forgotten realms. It's a great game though, 2 is even better imo but I don't think that's the consensus.
Thanks guys. I like the idea of making my own party so maybe I'll play it after I beat System Shock 2.
You played Prey?
I have. Don't remember beating it though for some reason. Fun game though.
>nu-Men-Era
I don''t know what I expected.
What are some games that give me pick related vibes?
I already played ATOM and Underrail didn't give me the same feel.
I've working at home since the lockdown and I'm going through Pillars of Eternity 2. Why does everyone here shit on the game so much? Yeah, the story and characters (except based Eder) are meh, but sailing around on your ship, raiding others, discovering stuff on islands, etc is fun. And the crazy builds you can come up with are fun too.
(minor spoilers ahead from Chapter 1 & 2!)
This letter from Jamandi irked me so much. The city's protection, huh? I didn't see a single guard when I defended the Trading Post (twice!), plus Oleg said the Stag Lord showed up a year ago and pimping them ever since.
So Restov taxed them even when they moved out to the No Man's Land (in exchange for "protection", huh?), which turned into double-taxing after I got my Barony due to their negligence AND it's Oleg who owes them money.
Or... Me. And why that road was in "deplorable condition" to begin with? Why did they let it deteriorate so badly? Isn't that the sign that Rostov failed to prove their intention to "do more for their citizens than mere tax-collecting"?
Seriously, if the devs' intent was to show Jamandi's (and Sellemus', who tried to fuck me over at the banquet) hypocrisy they've done a great job. This case is not about the Oleg or the road but their pettiness and damaged self-esteem.
>I was starting to get the hang of the whole DnD gameplay with BG2.
That's odd, considering that BG2 contains nothing remotely similar to D&D gameplay.
You're right. It's superior to that turn-based autism.
Might have been a wrong way to call it, but what I meant is that before BG and BG2 I never played any games that base themselves on AD&D rules.
If Kattar is the best boxer in the sport, how did he get outboxed by Zabeast?
>want to start the wizardry dark savant trilogy
>cant decide what party to roll with
I bought it months ago on GoG, I mainly wanted to play 8 but I heard it's got cohesive story threads throughout all 3 games
Fuck, wrong thread.
NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER
I told her to kindly fuck off and she dealt with it. The fuck is she going to do, go to war over tax from a man and his wife?
Is pathfinder kingmaker worth playing?
I really don't like RTWP combat, and I have no idea why it's so prevalent in CRPGs.
I've beaten Arcanum a couple of times now, and I'm thinking of beating Planescape again, but with more planning into the character. Then maybe play Trudograd when it's out of early access.
If you're playing planescape again, try an evil playthrough, you are a genuine bastard in them.

Baldur's Gate 2. Almost the perfect balance between the the fights of Icewind Dale and the dialogues of Planescape Torment.
Received it on release back in the days, I had no idea what this game was about. What a blast.

In BG2 ToB when you come back to Saradush and meet what Yaga Shura while this music start playing

Pillars of Eternity 1. Needlessly pompuous, the companions are walking encyclopedias instead of characters and the game fails the "door, monster, treasure" by not giving you xp for killing the monster and forgetting to add legendary items in the base game, therefore making exploration unrewarding.
I have been miring Pathfinder for a while and don't know if I should buy it. I read that you're constantly on the clock, which doesn't really fit the idea of a comfy game.
I know it's not exactly a crpg, my pathologic 2 was the one that I played. I'd only played jrpgs before. Can someone recommend me similar games?
Opinions on Neverwinter Nights expansions
DA:O
BG2
You could start from those.
SoU is okay, HotU is good.
What are some crpgs where you can actually influence the story? I don't like roller-coaster games.
>I read that you're constantly on the clock, which doesn't really fit the idea of a comfy game.
The time limits exist to encourage you to pay attention to the current situation and NOT spend months camping in some dump. The clock is very generous and just because it's there doesn't mean you have to speedtranny the game.
Should I play the first baldurs gate first?
SotU is worth at least one playthrough but is otherrwise unremarkable
HotU is a really good high level DnD adventure I like some of the stupid bullshit you have to fight like a dracolich and a demilich. Those motherfuckers on their own are strong enough to be the final boss of their own campaign.
