The Sims 2 has some decent amount of lore that spans multiple generations with lots of little backstories going on between the characters in the premade neighborhoods, you can read it in sims biographies, family trees and descriptions, there are also some scripted events that trigger whenever you play each family for the first time
the console spin offs also expand on those stories a bit

The Bella Goth slut meme only started with 4. In 2 she was missing and the game sort of implied it or joked about it, but it wasn't really a thing since 1's limited social interaction made stealing her from Mortimer pretty unrealistic. It only saw a resurgence with 4 and especially so once WW became popular since now you could actually cuck Mortimer for real.

That's a fact, it's building mode is leagues ahead of 2 and most definitely 3 and 1, even though it is a bit flawed

1 has by far the most character. The whole Americana thing, the music, the creepy prank phone calls and the tension in knowing that a burglar might show up, your sim might die in a fire or any number of bad things might happen is still very unique to that game.

Yeah Sims 2 was great with characters. That's 2's greatest strength, I think. That you are actually enticed to play a premade family

The burglary and fire are in 2 and 3. I tried the free version of 4 out and nothing ever seemed to go wrong. It was weird. And boring.
