I am playing this again. Haven’t played it for a long time and forgot how actually HARD is G2 with notr in chapter 1. Like holy damn almost every little shit 1 shots you. Killing orc warrior while being level 2 (smiths quest) was harder than beating Guardian Ape in Sekiro. g1-2 thread go
Gothic 2
Bump zoomers
Get Gothic3, it's just as good as 2 and doesn't deserve the bad rep.
With Community patch + Content Mod it really was quite good, not on the same level as G2 but I still had 100 hours of fun
There was a mod that reduced damage or increased experience or something to that effect, highly recommended.
When should I start chapter 2? Do I need to clear the whole map of monsters before going forward? What about quests? Is pickpocketing worth it? Talking about Gothic 2.
Nope, game is still shit.
I don't quite remember where you get it, but you can get a scroll that turns you into a shadowbeast, which let's you fuck up most things on the first map
>Do I need to clear the whole map of monsters before going forward?
That would be the best, because in new chapter new monsters spawn on top of the old ones.
Also clear the map of the monsters you can beat, can ignore the stronger ones.
Use this guide, user. It helped me alot

you get it from the alchemist by the docks
You dont get hp from lvl ups while transformed
Yeah, vargs, orcs etc. still fuck my shit up and I can't really see a way to kill them without moving to chapter 2.
>Do I need to clear the whole map of monsters before going forward
Need? Of course not, you can if you want to though. I do it on replays, but wouldn't recommend it on a first playthrough.
>What about quests?
Do the mercenary quests even if you aren't going to join them, and join one of the masters in Khorinis for easy money. Most other quests can be done later.
>Is pickpocketing worth it?
Yes, it gives decent money and exp.
interesting I didn't know that
im a gothic n00b, but the series interests me. which is the best one?
Gothic 1 > Gothic 2 > NOTR
Game is not hard. You're simply not supposed to fight or beat orc at lvl2 - you start as a scrub and build your way to being a competent warrior.
>Yeah, vargs, orcs etc.
They should be beatable after you finish the expansion.
Also best do the vanilla game for as long as you can then proceed to the expac.
I think you are forced during chapter 3 to do it.
yeah, you aren't really supposed to fight orcs in the first chapter
I usually just lure the orc to the guards so they can kill him
also any NPC fight can be cheesed with the ice block spell, I always have trouble with the guy in the dock warehouse and the guy that wants to meet you next to the fish store
If you want to minmax, you should finish Jharkendar in chapter 2 before actually doing most of the stuff in the old valley.
You don't even need to fight any orcs for the smith quest, you can find at least 2 orc weapons without killing any orcs.
Thanks.
I actually "fucked up" already. I joined militia too early it seems and hardlocked myself out of the mercenary quests. Downsides of going in blind I guess.
yeah but if you don't get rid of the orc, you can't use the teleporter in the cave
>I actually "fucked up" already
It's not that big of a deal, you gain more exp for killing monsters than quests anyway. I'd still recommend exploring the farms where the mercenaries are, some quests might still be available.
Using the teleporter to get to the digging site saves you almost no time since there's another one next to the tavern. Using it the other way you can simply run away from the orc, once you're outside he stops following you. But I guess if you want to finish the teleporter quest you're right.
You're not supposed to kill the Orc warrior. If you head out the side gate there's a small cave with a dead orc and his weapon inside.
Alternatively, you can get Bosper's apprentice to go hunting with you and get the apprentice to fight the Orc.
Naaah
>I usually just lure the orc to the guards so they can kill him
This. Also, how is the game hard if at lvl 2 you're trying to kill a hard monster? That's like saying Dark Souls is hard because you can't kill skeletons in the first five minutes you were playing.
