Not a single soul in this world defends the blood DLC. It's literally just there so they could lower the age rating for the base game. I don't really understand why it couldn't have been a free DLC. It's cheap as all hell but the idea of paying for gore is really gross.

Each individual game comes with 4-5 armies and a campaign worth its price.

If you have both you get access to a campaign map that combines both games.

If you are interested in a DLC army, you can just purchase that.

I own everything and have spent less the 100$ over 3 years. Most people spend more then that on Free to play games.

Total war 3 will be coming out soon or announced in 2020 which will prompt another sale for everything else.

If you just want to get into the game, I suggest only buying Game #2. Try it out see if you like it. If you like the campaign buy the first game, the Mortal empires map is a ton of fun (combines both campaigns).

If your more PVP, find an army you like and purchase that dlc or game and play that army.

All Armies are viable, some slightly better than others but those metas are ever shifting.

there is a distinction between in the game and playable. You don't have to buy every single lord pack.

Normal people play 1-2 campaigns of a TW game and then move on. There's plenty of content in each base game for this kind of experience. The dlcs are for maniacs (except the Skaven got fucked over with some really important unit being dlc only) and the dlc factions are still added for free as an NPC opponents to enrich your campaign. It's a far better model than most other parajew games desu.

Honestly I've never bought any DLC, I literally only play as the Empire and I just occasionally start a new game as them whenever a new good feature set drops or something.

The thing about the game is that each faction easily provides a shitload of content and interesting mechanics, the base game easily gets you 90% of the content and if you have a particular favorite aesthetic or playstyle that gets released as DLC you can buy it. But it's nowhere near as bad as Paradox bullshit, it's genuine content that also doesn't block you from experiencing the core game in any way, solely adds on to it.

Ye but its worth it. DLC done right, except Chaos and Beastmen.
