Well yeah, it's the very first of an extremely innovative series. The first attempt as janky as hell. For how complex the series is, the 2nd is very polished.

I still wanna do them if chronological order though, feels like the right order to be introduced to a franchise

my judgement call is that it's fair to just skip Codename 47... Contracts is basically a remake of it anyways

Duh, the game invented the term 'Eurojank'

This essentially; just play contracts. The jump between the two is like the jump between System Shock 1 and 2 in terms of tech. I'm not sure why 1 feels so fucking jank

I need to use the bathroom.

Still love it though. Something about its atmosphere makes it feel like a dream. Okay to skip it though, or to use a walk through to get through it (particularly the jungle missions) in my opinion. It stays fresh in my mind because its best missions were remade in contracts, which is nice

Codename 47 is a game with great ideas executing terribly. It's a chore to play and often even when you know exactly what to do it just doesn't work.

just play blood money lol

Ok then, thanks

you too

Blood Money is the peak of the series unironically. Good shit overall. 2 is ... rough. I enjoy it due to nostalgia, but the stealth elements are fucky. It seems you're detected without reason at times.

>Blood Money is the peak of the series
That would be Contracts.

don't bother, when people say blood money is the best it means that it's the only one they played.

No, it means that Blood Money is overall the most polished, soulful and funniest og Hitman game

It's not any of those things and you calling it "og" makes no sense since the series never had a hiatus revival or studio shift.

It is the correct order.
The only skippable one is arguably the first if you can't handle the jank but imo it has some of the best atmospheres and Tradition of the Trade is my favorite level of all hitman games.
It's obvious the devs were hesitant to do a pure social stealth game at the time because that was new, but the controls suck for the mandatory pew pew segments. In that respect it is similar to Thief 1. Even Hitman 2 still featured a few such moments that retrospectively feel out of place from contracts on.

>Blood Money is the peak of the series unironically
It is a janky shit show compared to nuHitman 1 and nuHitman 2 though. nuHitman has cancer with the always online shit and the retarded mastery system that timegates gear, but they both play and feel better than anything before Absolution.

I'm calling it og because Nuhitman 2 is far better than any other Hitman game actually.

Blood Money > Nu-Hitman 1 and 2 > Contracts > 2 > 1

What about absolution

>In that respect it is similar to Thief 1
The combat sections in Thief feel at place and aren't exactly mandatory, Thief 2 went too hard the other way and the constant mechanist lairs feel repetitive, it's like they took one level from 1 and stretched it out into a whole game instead of keeping things fresh, I unironically prefer 3 (with the Sneaky Upgrade) over 2.

at the fucking bottom, because it is trash
seriously imagine going from Blood Money to Absolution at the time, what an absolute disgrace

Why

That's my opinion on it, too. What ABOUT Absolution? Shitposting aside, I can't decide to put it after 2 or before it. I hated the hand holding involved

I refuse to believe anyone genuinely defends the pseudo-dungeon crawling levels of Thief 1 that are leftovers from the first draft of the Dark Project which was an action game and they didn't have time to redraw those levels from scratch and hesitated delivering a pure stealth game. The game is good in spite of them.

Not him but guy who made the order list he replied to. Essentially the game holds your hand and it feels way more fucking on rails then the others. The fun came from the open nature of how you could accomplish your tasks, not just following orders. That makes absolution bad in my eyes. The jank is mostly gone, though, but the game isn't fun to make up for it. I'd put it after 2 but 2nd to last place (original being the worst)

Hmmm, makes sense

Oh, no shit? I honestly thought that trash was publisher meddling out of fear of low sales

>atrocious checkpoint system: wanna reload and get that perfect run? well all enemies prior respawn, enjoy
>Fucking linear levels
>Absolutely retarded disguise system (police spot you while wearing a fucking SWAT helmet and mask
>Shit story, while being the main focus of the game
