While the whole soul vs soulless meme is pure manure, I can definitely see how it could be used her. The remake could well be from some new, unrelated skating game. Doesn't feel like the original at all. That's not to say I would know how to make it so
That immediately bugged me when i watched the gameplay and the Tony Hawk's interview. He goes on to say how everything looks "great" and "photorealistic", and you can clearly see on the characters' faces that they used face scan.
Since when did photorealistic imagery matter in fucking Tony Hawk games? What the fuck are face scans gonna add to the gameplay? Did they forget you spend 99% of the time seeing your character's back?
It's clear these guys have zero idea about what constitutes an artstyle and are just trying to get the most people in with easy bait like realistic graphism and other retarded things most people foam over.
Personally, i expect it's gonna be bad. I'll pirate it or try the demo if there is one before considering buying it.

I was so nervous he was gonna fuck up at the end.
I usually hate that argument but I kind of agree, it looks fantastic but it's harder to tell at a glance the specific elements of the map, like the grindable surfaces or the ramps obscured by shadow.
Sorry they didn't have anything that looked like those old PS1 textures in the Substance⢠Megascansā but gee golly don't those cliff textures look soo good in the screenshot? Those are straight from the real world! 3D scanned in and easily applied, already normal mapped with physically based rendering available!
It's a shame the clothing and drapery look like plastic mush, unfortunately artists still need to hand carve those with Zbrush but don't worry because 3D scanning people is being normalized by companies like Capcom so that technology will be even cheaper in the near future, ready to use for South Korean and Indian sub contracted studios for your games! Soon the only in house people needed with full time minimum wage positions will be the writers & a code monkey that will spend half their productivity on twitter retweeting trans rights posts!
No lighting artists or modelers that know how to hand craft characters or environments are needed anymore, the engine will render a time of day for you and these store bought textures will out sheen the plain models.
The occasional puddle and natural looking dirt will amaze you! just don't look too close to every major surface that is tiled. We wouldn't want to add decals and world build with doodads and props or anything.. we'd need people that could tell a story through their craft to do that! Not soulless worker bees on another continent copy pasting from prefabs.

If you were in that warehouse in the top right itbwouldnt be so dark just because there's a roof over your head and some light coming in.
