Let's talk about things you'd like to see if Shantae got a 3D platformer

I guess decent 3D swinging for monkey form goes without saying, though that's pretty basic. Maybe PoP-style climbing for it too.
The monkey should absolutely be the most mobile and really lend itself to whatever environment is open, whether it is an explorable hub area that leads to levels ala Banjo-Kazooie or one continuous giant world like Jak and Daxter. All I ask is going back to the original transformation mechanic where you actually have to input dance moves. Half-Genie Hero and Seven Sirens say "Fuck you" to that whole idea
She has Hartman hips with tiny breasts
A 3D platformer would be tricky to do well, Shantae's movement is pretty similar to the likes of Castlevania with precise movement and attacks that would suffer greatly by adding a third dimension.
The remedy would be a complete rework of it, which would feel off, Mario 64's rework of the classic worked so well because of how simple the previous game was. Shantae already has significant depth and gameplay identity ingrained in its 2D gameplay.
Making a good 3D game is always possible if done right, however taking the base formula into consideration makes it more delicate.
Jiggle physics, on her butt too.
I think it should be less like Mario and more like Banjo. A collect a ton that gives you a miriiad of abilities to use.
Shantae would look great with abs and light muscle tone
I didn't buy HGH because the screenshots and footage looked like ass with the new artstyle. Is the next game revamping it again? Or is it sticking to the dogshit HGH models? The worst for me was Rottytops who no longer shakes her hips and bobs her head but just awkwardly jitters from side to side.
This would be the near perfect shantae for me though I do think her hips should be larger in proportion to her waist.
I think mirroring the Banjo level of gameplay would absolutely work best as opposed to Mario. Shantae's environment already lends itself to having multiple collectibles and unique areas that only certain transformations can let you get to. I think her first 3D transition should really only focus on at LEAST 5 transformations (Monkey, Harpy, Elephant, Spider, Mermaid), so they can make every level include aspects of each of the five forms' exploration mechanics
Who would develop a 3d shantae game since wayforward sure as hell won't
I really thing a 3D Shantae game fits better as a Zalda like adventure game than a platformer.
The metroidvania aspect of the series fit well with the "in between" Dungeons sequences of Zelda, and the dungeons in Shantae are already Zelda dungeons to begin with. Using Transformations to resolve puzzles and sidequest across the map even fits the use of items in the Zelda games.
It doesn't need to be a big game either, MM is already short as it is, and WW was longer than needed.
They could try to make a collaboration with Playtonic or other indie devs with 3D experiences.
A taunt button.
Different artwork, same ingame assets.
That would be a nice take for a "mid 20s early 30s" Shantae design,
How would that look?
Anons, we've all seen how much raw meat Shantae eats on a day-to-day basis. I don't think she'd be getting any muscle tone on that tummy any time soon
fully modeled cervix
Shantae? More like like Shantbae!
This single gif has gone through so many damn phases, I'm surprised it isn't in 3D
Probably like the Gerudo's in Zelda, but less exaggerated and with Shanatae's face instead of the gerudo nose.
Close to Riju, but taller and more adult like.
There is a pirate attack every week in town, she is forced to burn all those calories pretty soon in a daily basis as well.
Also very true. But if anything, she'd be softer in the tummy
3d doesn't mean good
I prefer they find a middle ground between the transformations that are absolutely needed, and the "extra" ones. Monkey, Elephant and the like should be of quick access, to not break the pacing.
But extra, more powerful forms, like the Harpy, should involve some input. Make them secrets even, something you need to look through the map or gain from side quests. Like an improved Monkey dance that not turn her into a Monkey girl like Son Son with all her movility but also more combat options. It would be an extra, so it requires the input, but no needed for the main game, so you can just do with the normal monkey form.
Shantae is still struggling to be the best 2D platformer it can be. I don't see the point in going 3D until they make a masterpiece better than Pirate's Curse.
True, but as long as it is just a What If, is fun to think how could you take the Shantae formula and world and make it actually work in 3D. Is not likely to happen, but no reason to expect and hypothetical game to be bad.
This is just a fun "How could it work" exercise. I don't think any of us expect a 3D Shantae game soon, if ever even.
I don't think it's out of the question. Wayforward has had 3D titles, I believe. Transformations might even work better in 3D since you can have more ranged abilities thanks to the perspective that supports it better.
On one hand, I'd want Risky Boots to be the villain so that the story could be played safe. On the other hand, I'm sick of Risky being the villain
Mating minigame
After SS you're gonna wish Risky would fuck off from the franchise for a while.
A Shantae plush. How cute.
Rottytops? More like Hottytops!
Oh fuck, I already don't like the sound of that.
There already plenty of references to the underworld and the undead. Make the Pirate Master a recurrent villain like Dracula, trying to escape hell, and leave Risky as the rival.
Is not a deep story by any means, the Pirate Master is a very basic villain, but he is cool enough, imposing, and have a personal attachment to both Risky and Shanate, so he works both for a safe bet, as well as a more threatening villain.
This dance is why I didn't buy HGH
It is cute, but I don't know about $24, not even including tax and shipping and handling, so definitely closer to $30
While I did like Pirate Mastee (especially his design), I think he's better as a "every know and then" villain. I'd want the first 3D Shantae game to have someone new. And preferably not a baron
