>Sweeny lies about PS4
>nobody remembers
>Sweeny is free to lie about PS5 now
Sebastian Walker
thanks for beta testing sonyfags
Evan Fisher
Oh Sweeny nah fuck him.
Gavin Cruz
This shit makes me want to waitfag even longer before building a new PC.
Logan Richardson
So much for a dead platform huh my little sweeny?
Oliver Russell
steam is dead eso got released too
Austin Rivera
>ps4 best console, better than ps2 and switch
no idea what who said, but it's a fact^
Xavier Nguyen
It's a good platform if you like 3rd person action games.... and a complete pile of nothing if you don't.
Chase Gray
maybe as means for pushing competition to develop new technologies, but as for PS5's own technology, that's Sony exclusive.
Mason Long
>Tim "this one's on me Lads!" Sweeny shilling for the PS5
>"Help drive future PCs"
when will this fag ever learn that the PChads left him behind long ago with shit like VR
Jackson Nelson
>keep talking about the storage architecture
I could give less of a shit. Let's see some fun games, then I will give less of a shit
Oh, you're gonna focus on cinematic titles to "take advantage of this groundbreaking tech"?
Couldn't give less of a shit. Another slow start incoming, disappointing
Justin Cruz
PCIe4 will be a must have.
Zachary White
>Tell me lies tell me sweet little lies
Brody Hughes
I don't know why people take claims like this seriously when it's said about literally every single console generation. It should be obvious these people will always lie
Jayden Lopez
yes
Nolan Thomas
you're welcome pcfucks
Aiden Jones
Can't wait for PS5

Video games have stopped driving computer hardware development ages ago, consoles most especially since they're just a PC with components that have been available for PC building already for years. He's praising SSDs? A fucking SSD? Those have been become increasingly common components of a PC desktops and laptops for a decade already!
Parker Jackson
both ps3 and ps4 were already balanced for youtube and youtube on desktops works better than the app installed on sony cat warmers
Anthony James
Your shitty 300mb/s SSD is not comparable to a 5.5GB/s SSD retard
Colton Adams
That's why I'm so hyped
Oliver Baker
What a fucking retard. Do you know the amount of custom hardware that's in the PS5 to remove bottlenecks and get that data straight from the SSD into memory? PCs don't have that. Maybe someday you'll get those console components, PCfag.
Henry Ramirez
why are snoyboys so technologically illiterate?
Joshua Rodriguez
>Xbox is revealed to have better GPU, CPU, RAM than PS5
>literally only angle Sony has left to push is SSD
>sudden rush of desperate 'blast processing' tier press releases about le magical SSD
top kek. What a funny coincidence
William Wright
Games will be made with the 300mb/s SSD in mind.
William Howard
But what does Blast Processing do?
Carter Lewis
>Do you know the amount of custom hardware that's in the PS5 to remove bottlenecks and get that data straight from the SSD into memory?
Do you?
Nicholas Walker
How many teraflops are we talking?
Ryan Morales
He first talked about the custom Decompressor. That is the dedicated chip that will actually decompress the kraken format data coming off the SSD. Cerny then states that in terms of performance, the chip equates to 9 Zen2 cores worth of performance ( yes he said 9 Zen2 Cores ). He then says " that is what it would take to decompress the kraken data stream " So there is a specific unit, a very powerful one, that is there only for decompression. None of the other chips of the Complex have to worry about Decompression including the CPU. This chip handles that process. Step 1 of the bottleneck process has been addressed, and with force.
The next component is the Dedicated DMA Controller. This controller directs the game on where to send the data flow coming out of the decompressed data from the decompressor. That is the job of this chip. It gets the decompressed data and tells the game where to send it. Cerny states " this equates to ANOTHER Zen2 core or two worth of performance ". So again it is a powerful unit for processing the data but it is much less intensive since it is just basically a traffic controller. You go here, you go there, you go there. So it doesn't need a gigantic amount of power to handle the decompressed data flow.
Cerny stated that the controllers main purpose is to eliminate Check In as a bottleneck. So, decompression bottleneck has been addressed and the check-in bottleneck has been addressed.
Gavin Baker
Next up was a brief moment for the 2 I/O processors which he states do not equate to a Zen2 core as the function they serve is to simply direct the surrounding units. It has its own RAM for this purpose as, like a CPU, it is giving commands to various components so queued instructions need some space to sit waiting it's turn.
Cerny states that the first I/O CoProcessors job is to direct SSD I/O, bypassing traditional File I/O completely. So the bottleneck of File I/O has been eliminated by omission
The other I/O CoProcessor is dedicated to memory mapping. Which Cerny states to the devs doesn't sound like a function for the SSD but alot of developers like to bundle memory mapping together with File I/O during this phase of the input process. So they built this chip to handle that portion of the data flow process.
The final piece of the puzzle is the Coherency engine. Cerny states that Coherency comes up alot and most notably in the GPU Caches. He then states " flushing the caches of the GPU when new data is read from the SSD is an unattractive option " so they created this chip to assist this process.
This chip will " inform the GPU of the overwritten address ranges " and then the custom GPU scrubbers within the GPU can get rid of the data in just those areas. This is a pretty significant statement as it means developers can load specific texture data which is no longer needed, which goes hand in hand with the Geometry Engine and Primitive Shaders that are talked about. Instead of full on cache flushing during say LOD changes, which can slow the process down, the Coherency engine can tell the game what textures are in need of a switch and the GPU scrubbers can immediately scrub ONLY those areas with the new data flowing into those areas.. That's pretty exciting really.
Luis Nelson
You're welcome for the gimped PC you get to watch your movies on, snoycuck.
Samuel Carter
Literally everything this beta says is bullshit and proven as so. And now that EGS is a complete travesty he just feels the need to say hip and trendy shit that would make for good headlines, especially for console drones.
Josiah Sanchez
Incorrect, they will be made for consoles in mind which mean 2.4GB/s since Series X is that
Benjamin Baker
why does it sound like the ps5 will have the epic fail store?
John Mitchell
Why bloggers blog about "epic" store guy? Is he supposed to know anything else that chink money is easy money?
Henry Ortiz
Imagine actually believing Sweeney's lies
Christian James
maybe cause youre retarded
Jace Hall
well, dead weight can help with a car's stability.
thanks for confirming the ps5 is dead weight
Kevin Brooks
>PlayStation 5 will help drive future PC's
BECAUSE IT WILL ACT LIKE A BRAKE PEDAL?
Christian Lopez
Cause they are relevant to the industry and have an engine used by most developers unlike another failed company
Brandon Bell
Fair enough, that's a good clarification
Mason Garcia
Are they now?
Michael Bell
Why don't all you memers post your SSD benchmarks
Kevin Morris
I mean, to an extent this is true. 360/PS3 were PowerPC custom spec, so uniquely divergent to PCs.
XB1/PS4 and XB1X/PS4 Pro were PCs, but they were entry level to toasters what toasters are to high end. PCs kept on marching ahead indifferent to what consoles were doing. Now, SeriesX and PS5 are PCs + fixed function custom silicon to accelerate specific IO capabilities. The future is hybrid, a combination of general purpose and fixed function to task and accelerate where appropriate.
Sweeney is correct, but what you faggots need to understand is that he's specifically talking about the direction hardware will need to go in. It has nothing to do with rendering, games, or services. It's like where with autonomous driving cars, some use LIDAR whilst others use computer vision (TESLA). Both are valid approaches, but the latter is more more flexible whilst the former has a narrow use case.
So what did Tesla do? They figured out how to derive depth of an object based on raw framedate. They created custom silicon that would accelerate consumption of thousands of frames a second of data, and across the entire sequence, figure out how the distance to and from the object as well as the physicality and curvature of the object itself to get depth. That's literally what LIDAR fucking does. Tesla achieved general purpose & fixed function simultaneously in the same system.
In the same vein, that's what the PS5 is doing. That's what the SeriesX console will also do. The IO developments will be reviewed, and ideas from that will make its way into PC (which encompass ultra thins, laptops, desktops, and enterprise). All of which will ultimately benefit.
It probably sucks that PS5/SeriesX games will be 1440p30-4K30 with some 60fps games here and there, but the underlying tech is really fucking cool--and am looking forward to seeing it happen PC side once PCIE Gen5 comes online.
