How do we stop it?

How do we stop it?

by eradicating MMOs. the glory days are gone.

There deserves a "support" role in there, but beyond that: we don't. The holy trinity is based.

gw2

You must make fundamental changes to combat.

The basic MMO formula is this: reduce enemy HP to zero. If your HP reaches zero then you lose.

This antiquated bullshit needs to die. Come up with a better system.

MMO were never good
if you want to eradicate MMO hell triangle make mp game not around combat
>game about trucking giant cargo on hostile environment
>one player is driver
>second navigator
>third engineer

why stop something that works well?

Can't, MMO fags will always deviate toward these builds even if the skill trees are clearly desgined for much more creative ones because "muh meta"

making all characters heal, like GW2

Why don't you do that then? The trinity exists for a reason, and all attempts to invent a new synergy system have failed.

we stop it with bards

remove tank and spank
remove giant mobs.
have more one on one fights with npcs, so its like an actual battle.
health regens faster inbetween fights, which will also speed up downtime when playing.

basically make games like battlefield with 64 players the MMO formula.

Get rid of autoattacks. Make everything avoidable or able to be mitigated by every player. For instance instead of the boss just fixating on one player at a time with random little AoE farts, have him charging around the arena, stopping to thrash and rampage, throwing debris at a player. If there's a fixated attack allow it to be compensated for, for instance he throws a player into a wall and they're stunned in his charge path, and all of the other players need to attack from one side of the boss in order to throw off the trajectory of his charge so that he just barely misses the stunned player. Incorporate puzzle minigames that certain players can work on, like trying to jury rig a door open by playing a simple wire minigame while other players cover them, bring them supplies and tell them when they need to move, etc. This shit isn't hard. Focus on mechanics instead of unavoidable damage to turn shit into a numbers check. Numbers checks are the only reason that tanks and healers exist.

Strand type game?

Opinions on how Guild Wars 2 did it? No trinity but everyone could self heal a bit and dodge to avoid damage. Everyone could dps but what mattered was what buffs each class could bring. Tank sort of existed but just to pull aggro on boss and pull it around. Healer classes became a thing later but is technically not necessary since all the raids could be done without it.

Two solutions come to mind. One: make it more realistic. Looking at medieval battle formations, the roles of "tank" and "dps" sort of exist when you look at Hammer & Anvil tactics, or the use of flanking columns. But "healers" don't exist at all.

So remove fast healing as a concept. Instead of a raid consisting of everyone doing something constanlty, force actual rotations for rest the way it was done during realistic battles. But won't this keep the maximum amount of people from having the maximum amount of fun? Maybe. History is rife with examples of veteran soldiers chafing at having to wait while acting as reinforcements. The Triarii in early Roman history, or commanders forcing their soldiers to actively look away from the battle so that they did not get too excited and wear themselves out before it was their turn.

Alternatively, remove the "taunt" from the tanks. Force everyone to deal with the chaos of battle when facing large mobs or then make it so that the party must use tactics and positioning to ensure that all the damage is funneled to the "tank". One way to do this could be by introducing battlefield engineering to prepare for fights. Build fortifications and then entrap around your battlements; spike traps, sandwalls, snares and pitfalls. Anything you can imagine, really. Another method which would invalidate the "tank" would be higher mobility playing a factor. If you cannot ensure that your tank is in position because the formations changes constantly, the paradigm falls apart.

Physics based engines instead of numbers over head and autotargetting.

>The trinity exists for a reason
For a reason to copy WoW success
>all attempts to invent a new synergy system have failed
Because no one can be a "WoW killer", if it's not a WoW itself.

If you don't let people specialize in a fucking RPG you might as well just make a pure action game with no stats.

Make AI that reacts like a real player in PVP. If healers are standing there make it switch aggro onto them.

WoW didn't invent Tank/Healer/DPS you fucking dumb zoomer

Probably won't ever catch on, involved mechanics take effort to develop. But we can and will have to get past numbers.

remove tanks
make melee dps frontliners

why would you want to stop it you dumb faggot? mmo's are dead because they tried to stop it. making every class a bruiser with self healing and cooldowns is cancer. enjoy your dead genre.

Make classes that are capable of fulfilling multiple basic tasks through different means while having each give unique benefits to the party. When the tank is the only guy in the party who can reasonably hold aggro for more than 5 seconds, something is wrong.

Play better games.

Why?

I love healing, and everytime dev' tries to change that it's shit.

>hurrr trinity is bad
>to stop it you have to make all chars the same so they all can heal, dps and evade
>somehow this is better than having different classes

Attached: 4459593041557.jpg (960x916, 72.4K)

Then it should be a DPS or other mechanics one via some form of timer on the fight, like a security system activating, the arena being destroyed, or players running out of places to take cover.

What's wrong with it?

>my obscure anime created the trinity
ok loser

Every iteration of runescape ignores the trinity. Everyone heals using items, and there are no classes. You can level up every combat style and pick which one you want for each boss.

Just make every class dps.
Make players have to strike a balance between dots, burst damage and interrupts.
Having heals mid combat is retarded anyways. It just needlessly draws the whole ordeal out way longer than it has to be.
Any support, recovery or buffing could be done pre battle by profession skills.
