Are 144hz monitors worth it?
Are 144hz monitors worth it?
Other urls found in this thread:
yes
depends on the game
are you playing multiplayer, reaction based games like pic related.
>yes.
are playing some other casual shit ?
>not realy, its still very nice tho
Id say so. But its not that much difference. Anything higher imo is a waste.
Yes. TN monitors are quite good colour-wise, too.
Yes but not on VA unless you want ghosting up the ass which defeats the purpose of a high refresh monitor. Get a TN if poor get a IPS if you have the money.
Compared to 60? Yeah, it's pretty good, though not a similar improvement as going from 30 to 60. Diminishing returns and such.
I wish they made TV shows and anime in 144hz
yes if you play source games online
If you mostly play japanese or emulated games, then no
Definitely.
yes. I got an ASUS VG249Q for about $160. Great IPS monitor.
compared to 60Hz monitors its really good and I would highly recommend it. Of the few times I've had the opportunity to use a 240+Hz monitor I would say there's really no point in going any higher than 144Hz.
>get 144hz monitor
>realize none of the games i play take advantage of that
30 -> 60 is night and day.
60 -> 144 is a pretty big difference but not as big as I expected.
144 -> ~240 is essentially no difference at all.
Yup. It's worth it, but I'd say the climb from 60 to 80-100 is much more substantial than 100 to 144.
I have this exact monitor I like it a lot
>use 60hz monitors for years
>see constant ugly lines in the middle of the screen
>switch to 144hz screen
>never see those lines again
One of the best possible upgrades you can make. Even if you can only afford a TN panel, 144hz is worth it.
I have a 144hz monitor and I literally cannot tell the difference between it and 60hz
The biggest upgrade is actually that even still images are crisper and brighter but that's because the monitor is just better and not because it's 144hz
Games in motion look pretty much the same
If you have a 60hz 1080p monitor there's not much of a point getting a 144hz monitor now I feel like, just wait until 1440p 144hz is the standard on a gtx 3070 or something
i have an VA panel and there is no ghosing
just get some new one and you good
Of course. It's 2020. I wouldn't even consider someone with a less than 144hz 1440p monitor a real gamer desu.
>I have a 144hz monitor and I literally cannot tell the difference between it and 60hz
Switch back to 60hz after some time and you will feel it.
Did you turn 144hz on your display settings for widows?
There's still ghosting with alot of transitions with VA. Tech is moving fast though maybe in a few years it will catch up and replace IPS but for now it's simply inferior.
my brudda knows
Without a doubt. Anyone who says otherwise has never experienced it.
Not entirely. Some games have bad programming, forcing to turn Vsync on that limits FPS to 60, with some allowing only 30 FPS then. Others have a frame limit even with Vsync turned off.
It's mostly worth it for the games you'll want this for, aside from a few badly programmed ones.
that's usually only crappy jap ports
Depends on the VA panel. Samsung's QLED VA panels are amazing. Then again, it seems like QLED panels are ahead of the curve.
I have, I do not notice the difference at all. The only time I can really see it is when I'm on the desktop and flicking the mouse back and forth rapidly.
Yes.
you have eye/brain issues, it's almost as big of a difference as jumping from 30 to 60fps
I want to kiss all of Satanias boo-boos to make her feel better.
Is that game still alive?
I've been thinking of re-installing it lately for some reason.
>I have, I do not notice the difference at all.
Well maybe your visual reaction time sucks.
Yes. Although it is hard to get back into playing on the PS4 after.
What are your specs
why are all VA panels curved? It looks like shit if it isnt a ultrawide.
144hz 1440p is the perfect spot
You should get your eyes checked then.
>143 Hz
of course you dont see it, we are talking about 144 Hz, pleb
>>see constant ugly lines in the middle of the screen
?
>cannot tell the difference
You're either trolling or a retard. 144Hz feels almost like real life compared to 60Hz.
Are you sure you didn't plug in your monitor using HDMI or something retarded like that?
Weird. I notice the difference straight away. Sucks to be you i guess.
VA's don't have shifting color problem like TNs so I guess they throw it in as a marketing gimmick
user.... Don't tell me you used a VGA cable.
but you hardly see any curved TN's it's always VA 99% of the time
The problem is 1440p is a meme...
Like 900p or 5K(5120×2880)
It's not, I can see the difference specifically when I'm comparing 144hz to 60hz on like testufo.com
i5 4670k
gtx 1060 6gb
Exactly. Curved TNs have extremely bad viewing angles for colors. VA's don't have this problem.
No I used a displayport cable
>on like testufo.com
Dude...
No wonder, your specs can't drive 144fps consistently.
But having it curved would actually make it less angled than having it straight doesnt it? which is why TN looks like shit on the angles when the monitor is flat being you're looking at it more angled.
i have
>rx 580
>r5 2600
>8gb ram
>1tb SSD
is it worth getting. 144hz monitor? I have 60 atm but idk if my computer can actually go that high
if you play on 1080p yes. if you play 1440p no unless you get a better gpu.
It can on some weaker games which is where I was testing it
Just uncap fps and play some games with a fps meter on? If you can get high fps then yeah. You can just test it right now
no, it's a shitty gimmick meme. 4k >>>>>
