Why are their English scripts and voice acting so good?

Why are their English scripts and voice acting so good?

Why can they get it right when other Japanese developers can't? Even Sekiro had a good dub.

Their style of storytelling and the company they work with for it just work well together. I imagine it helps that English is the default, even in Japan.

I've heard they hire theater actors rather than normal VAs.

Really? That explains a lot actually

Do people get any immersion at all when playing Sekiro with english dub?

which anime have the best dubs?
also post u're are favorite game

I guess they must hire good english writers/translators, and they get good VAs from theatre cos for the job.

Their scripts are like what, 4 pages long?

Black lagoon

They hire actual actors instead of dogshit dub VAs

Black lagoon, GitS:SAC, samurai Champloo and Medabots

They make weird translation errors or flourishes that spawned all the lorefags. Otherwise yeah, it's good.

>Even Sekiro had a good dub.
Good joke. It wasn't even done by the same team, frognation, which why it was so shit.

Yep, that's good dialogue.

...not really?

shut up miyahacki

I can't think of a single voice line in any of the souls games that was bad.

This is every dark souls script

Pretty sure Miyazaki said he spent a few years living in Canada during childhood and he grew up reading some english books he barely understood.

His grasp on the english language is good enough that he can avoid typical japanese pitfalls. If you go and listen to some of the cut dialogue in Souls games a lot of it is often stuff that sounds kind of typically japanese.

Sekiro's dub is not to the same quality as Souls. It's campy just like anime.
But you're right. Fromsoft are uniquely non-cringe given that they are Jap devs. People say it's theater actors but they are non cringe down to their writing.
They take themselves seriously but not so seriously that it comes off as edgy. There is levity but the humor isn't juvenile like in most Jap game, it's consistent with the overall. They are also subtle and have very little exposition. Very unlike Japanese anything.

Chromartie High

Sekiro’s dub was better than the OG moonrune VA, filthy weeb

>Black lagoon
other than the dub, is the anime itself any good?

yes

They use Frognation.

>Good

no.

The slow laugh, every single time. Even characters that aren't supposed to be sinister.

>Sekiro had a good dub
imagine believing this.

kek'd

Yeah, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls games, and Bloodborne have some pretty stellar voice acting.
Sekiro's dub is kinda iffy compared to the rest, but that was because it was outsourced to a different company than usual to do the voicework. It was still alright tho.

Gonna list some of the best performances from these games.
