Conceptually, it's interesting being attacks from multiple angles.
In practice, it just looks stupid as hell and super unaesthetic.

Me neither really. As long as it doesn't involve cards in any way, i'm willing to give it a chance.

>coin count went up to 13,500 in the trailer
>combat gimmick that takes away from actually combating the enemies
I’m very apprehensive

It could be good. There's definitely lots of potential with the idea.
It probably won't actually be good.

Seems like the abundance of coins are going to be used to buy extra time when deciding an attack.

>All chapter bosses will have probably some tedious gimmick involving turning the battlefield

Haven't seen enough yet. Somewhat, barely optimistic until then.

look at it this way, if you're abrasively negative you can either be right when its shit and smug about it or wrong when its good and be pleasantly surprised.
you have at least a 50% chance of being disappointed if you're positive and a 100% chance of being please if you aren't

I hope the bleachers get upgraded as the game goes on, like the theater did in TTYD. Like, maybe endgame you're fighting inside a big coliseum.

Pretty much this. If they didn't just rebrand the stickers like they did with CS's cards then it has a chance of being decent.

I'm also betting that you're at a disadvantage if enemies attack you from behind or some shit like that. Wonder if partners actually fight or are just there to bant. The bob-omb was revealed to be missing his fuse, nigga's a dud posing as a bomb.

I need to play it before I can judge. We've hardly seen anything, it could be cool and fun or it could be a tedious unfun gimmick. I'm leaning towards it being an unfun gimmick at the moment

SOUL

We've already seen much fuller bleachers both the screenshots and the trailer itself.

The weird thing is that if they actually did have even just two partners in battles like these, each on their own ring while the enemies are on others, it would be an interesting system. But of course not.

I'm not impressed. It looks like the same sort of "Style over substance" battle system the last two games had, just with a literal twist.

Pretty sure user meant he hopes the bleachers get upgraded to actual stands rather than exclusively bleachers. Like theater seating, possibly some concrete stadium seats, rather than just bleachers you could set up anywhere.

The explorer toad is in the battle sequence that takes place in the purple desert

And probably won't do anything except spout dialogue.

>Swap rings so Chargin' Chuck hits someone else instead of you.
>Flying enemies are immune and require different strategies.
>Arrange koopa so the double stomp sends its shell bouncing and hitting everyone else around you.
>Some rings start spawning with environmental hazards to consider.
>Twist rings around so cheep cheep ends up flopping around on land.
I see way more potential for strategy than anything they showed off in CS/SS.

The ring thing itself doesn't seem so bad. I just wonder how abilities are going to be handled. I know there's a picture of Shiny Boots™ but it didn't look like a card or peel off like a sticker so I dunno. Cautiously optimistic until further notice.

I like the concept but it looks kind of bland. I hope they get creative with the environments. Otherwise it'll be really lame looking at an unfitting dartboard every time.

It could just be how their doing the combat UI so you have full view of the arena and it's not obscured by UI elements.

If you get cards not in the vein of Color Splash but in the vein of Megaman Battle Network, I'll be happy.

Would be better if they just adopted the radiant historia mechanics.

Honestly if it was fucking Mario Battle Network I'd play it.

If they make this combat somewhat strategic then I might be willing to accept it.

you don't have to care about the game until it comes out

if you really wanna call it shit watch someone play it when it comes out and if you don't like it then you can hate it like half the people here

The possibility of environment-specific rings like water spaces or lava spaces would be really cool to see.

Why can't they just do a normal RPG battle system?
I don't see how the wheel even relates to the origami theme at all

You've given me some hope for this battle system. I thank you, Ann!
