It's not nostalgia, old Pokemon designs are objectively better simply because they (mostly) resemble creatures that could exist in that fantasy world, they are believable. New designs are shit because they look like souless plastic toys. They feel out of place, like they don't really belong in the ecosystem of the game world.
I wish they would go back to their old design philosophy, but like everything else Pokemon related, it's just gonna be worse and worse.
I unironically couldn't give a shit about any game that didn't have the first generation pokemons because of how shit the rest looked. Too bad, because the game formula is pretty fun.

Yeah it really pisses me off. Look at an old Pokémon like Caracosta for example. That thing actually looks like a realistic turtle. Now let's look at a nu-Pokémon, like Blastoise. What the fuck are those proportions? Why does it have two cannons on its back? Fucking retarded soulless trash.
Cherrypicking aside I really like that revised Crabbrawler design. It's so much better than the shitty original.
Justin Perry
Yeah modern design look so cartoonish. They all blend into each other.
Nathaniel Foster
>Look at an old Pokémon like Caracosta for example. ...

You just don't get it at all. OP is talking about proportions, not fantasy elements. Stop trying to copy arguments from other discussions, it make you look like a brainless idiot.
Ryan Hernandez
The "old artstyle revisions" on the right look like horseshit, especially the bird and crab.

Noah Ward
really nigga op started with a cherry picked rehashed argument get a grip faggot.
Joshua Adams
Soulless plastic toy, doesn't look like a creature that could survive irl. Totally out of place in the mature and realistic world of Pokemon.
Fun of pokemon is the wildly different designs that let people make teams based off what appeals to them. Maybe you arent really expected to love every single pokemon. Not every pokemon is trying to have Lucario levels of appeal because then we wouldn't get fun unique mons that may have lesser amounts of fans, but find their own groups of people who enjoy them for what they are. I remember when I ended up loving Purugly and making it one of my favorite mons, it finally shattered me out of that dumb genwunner phase.
Irrelevant underage opinion thinking a cartoon looking edgy makes it good.
Adam Butler
Yet I still like the designs for both Zorua and Vulpix.
Isaac Garcia
Galvantula only having four legs bothers the shit out of me. It looks seriously unbalanced towards the back.
Eli Roberts
Jesus christ you are dumb as fuck

I agree, I fucking hate the cartoon characters they’re trying to pass off as Pokemon I mean, look at this fucker. Literally just a bunch of noodles with googly eyes and clown shoes. You wouldn’t even recognize this as a Pokemon at first. Looks like a Kirby enemy.
