I'm playing the DMC games for the first time ever. I liked DMC1 enough to start this one but holy fuck. Is it okay if I skip this shit? Enemies rarely even attack and the answer to everything is press square or jump and press square.
Yes lol. 2 is the worst in the series, even the attempted reboot is better. 2 is worth playing through just to see how bad it gets, but once you've had enough it's fine to dip out.
No shame in bowing out of this one. I'd suggest you move to the third one, it's great.

As says, you can play it if you're curious to know with it has such infamous reputation, but if you don't want to engage on such a thing just skip it.
Honestly, it feels like a bad indie game at times.

It's interesting how around mission 11 or 12 it's like the game remembers that it is a Devil May Cry and actually start placing enemies on the levels and when you're halfway through that building (mission 15?) it actually feels like a Devil May Cry game, albeit a very mediocre one. Was it due to the guy behind DMC3 getting in front of the project?
Man, I can't get over how horrible that game's stinger is.
I personally don't regret it because it was easy (I pretty much beat almost every mission on my first try and I've never been good at action games) and it was interesting to explore such a bad game after playing the first one.
The exact part I dropped the game until I forced myself like a year later.
It's not getting better.
Around the end it gets better and worse.
Better because it actually makes you fight like the action game is supposed to be.
Worse because the horrible physics and gameplay makes such fighting a chore.
DMC was huge when it came out and very beloved. 2 was seen as highly disappointing by everyone when it came out. If you care about the story, I'd slog through it, it's very easy and very short anyway. If it's only gameplay you're after you can just drop it. 3 is considered the best but I only ever got halfway through that and didn't touch any newer one in the series. DMC is my favorite of the first 3. Had to be there.

It’s not just that it’s easy it’s that the game is completely braindead its incredible how much they fucked up with this one considering how good the first was. They literally could’ve just reused the exact same combat from the first game, change the environment and people would still have liked it
