too much padding, inconsistent graphics, most of the new content is a chore to play through, combat system needs work. feels like the hobbit movies, trying to bait people with nostalgia but there's not enough substance to stand on its own

Gentleman's 8.5, a good game but not something i need to replay or something that will stick with me past some good character moments + fun bosses. I don't think it had a better "feel" than FFX but maybe i'm just not 10 anymore. And I actually liked the jannies, it was just an anime way to try to sell the next game and say "we can do ANYTHING" (which could be hilariously garbage, but that's part of the fun of it)

6/10. Not very good but not abysmal either. Pretty much a waste of time with bullshit filler, the occasional Nomura shenanigan, and combat that can't make up its mind if it wants to be action or turn-based. Anyone giving it over an 8 is either being dishonest to themselves and others or enjoys the taste of modern game drivel.

For the most part I enjoyed the game after I got use to the battle system, but the pacing is glacial because it's just Midgar for over 30 hours with next to no significant added areas. I really REALLY wanted them to add an entire sector we never explore in the OG, or anything other than some generic lab or 1 or 2 one-shot under a half hour long areas, but they didn't do that. I also don't care for any of the added characters and felt like they were just padding, and none of them actually affect anything in a significant way. But I also think the original cast were represented well and I have no complaints other than Sephiroth. Sephiroth is laughably bad in this game.

Graphics are good but I just do not give a shit about graphics anymore, and honestly if they downgraded the shit out of the game so they could have fit more than Midgar in it, I would welcome it with open arms. And I fucking hate the Kingdom Hearts-tier Nomura plot tampering which makes me extremely skeptical of the sequel to the point that I will probably won't buy it until it's been out for a week and people are talking about it. I just have a feeling Part 2 is gonna be extremely stupid in changes.
