I don't think I could come up with a dumber looking system if I tried.

I honestly feel sorry for Intelligent Systems. The morale must have been so low there while working on this. Knowing that the game will flop, but having to satisfy their senile boss miyamoto, at least until he self-retires.

The ring turning system just seems like a waste of time

Some translations:
>The first thing that pops up says "Line up your enemies!"
>The top right is a timer for how long you have to adjust the rings
>You can press + to spend coins to extend the timer
>You can press X to ask for hints from Olivia
>You can press Y to ask for support from the Toads
So the whole battle system will be centered around solving the mini-puzzle of "lining up your enemies", and every battle will use this system.

Miyamoto has next to nothing to do with the actual games anymore

Looks neat, but we need to see some later battles, not this tutorial stuff. It tells us so little.

Miyamoto has nothing to do with IS outside of giving some direction for ONLY Sticker Star. Didn't touch CS or this game.

does what does the attacks tab say?
anything about them being stickers, or is it shit like equipment?

Does anyone know if Intelligent Systems has separate teams that are working on this? If Nintendo is taking Intelligent Systems away from other games to work on this nonsense, then what a waste.

Eh, depends how they implement the wheel thing. Paper Mario games have never been particularly hard so could just make the battle system even slower, if it's easy.

You can see another battle at 1:32 in this trailer: youtube.com/watch?v=FX6DTLcWUdY

It doesn't look any more particularly engaging. The kind of stuff that I'd get really tired of doing after like 10+ battles.

Important details which need to be clarified:
>whether there is a point to doing battles (i.e. experience)
>whether your basic attacks are consumables or not (specials attacks as them could work if Partners in Time is any indication)
>the purpose of the audience and your partners, if any

yeah, that's what's going to make or break the game for me.
i need to see all that and a battle in the game. not just 20 seconds of gameplay which only shows mario doing one attack.

I can already tell it's SOULLESS and likes the SOUL that TYD had on Gamecube.

TTYD is soulless, the first game is SOUL incarnate

There's a lot they can do with it. I'm betting the hammer gets stuff like AOE attacks when there's no simple way to just line up enemies, or hammer throws for flying enemies not affected. They could add environmental rings like lava you gotta avoid jumping in, or barriers to place between you and projectiles. Maybe you can "spin" an enemy off a ring so they fall into lava or have to come back up to attack.

In theory it's an interesting way to add "maps" to Paper Mario combat without having to make actual arenas.

Right, but we don't know the logistics of how the enemies attack or how other moves, items, etc work. It could well be somewhat fun/challenging to have to manage what enemies are where and how to deal with them. I'm not holding my breath, but just saying "looks dumb don't like" is pretty petty.

Why does it look so fucking lazy? Like it's actually regressed? At least the music and sound is still good.

These.

Repeating a lie doesn't make it true, user.

Reminder paper mario is a masonic ritual

I thought TTYD had SOUL, at least back when it first came out. I remember really enjoying it.

Equipment shop is found btw.

Because it's literally a tutorial fight.

It looks like he's standing on a giant dartboard.

How about just going back to the old combat system from the first 2 paper mario?

No need to change the gameplay

you thought wrong

>Mother fuckers never played Radiant Historia

Your guy's loss that battle system has me potentially very excited.

>ITS NOT MIYAMOTOS FAULT
Yes it is. They felt bad people were getting more sentimental for paper mario than the trashy 2d bing bing shit so they sabotaged it for him. Case closed.

>Knowing that the game will flop
Kek. The cope

Is there a way to play TTYD without emulating it? Short of buying it and a wiiq

How do you make any improvements on TTYD's battle system? It's borderline perfect.

color splash sold less than 200k

You can buy a used Wii and mod it to pirate gamecube games.

on a system that was also a flop

user it's a puzzle game for children, it's time to move on. if you want a paper mario game stick of truth is a straight-up ripoff, there's also bug fable if you have absolutely no standards.

>the only good paper mario is soulless
You faggots don't even know what having soul means.

user the death of paper mario is a mixture of tanabe and IS not wanting to do RPG's after doing fire emblem.

when miyamoto kicks the bucket, will we get a real paper mario game? or will this one flop so hard that we never get paper mario again?

>IS not wanting to do RPG's after doing fire emblem
IS has been doing RPGs since the fucking 80's and they still put out 64 and TTYD, what are you on about?

The Switch is not the Wii U. Even Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion, niche series as far as Nintendo games go, sold shit tons. This game will sell well based on Mario alone. And good or bad you're gonna have to accept that.

>something can only have soul if it's drowning in deviantart OC autism.

Turn based combat.

miyamoto isn't the problem, it's tanabe.
