same. got Outlast on a whim but will never finish it
Stream it and I'll watch over you while you play so you don't get murdered by a spooky ghost irl
Just play it bro you can do it it's not real bro
>tfw finally finally found a horror game with something scary in it for once and the game sucks
Every time. The last horror game I played that managed to both be scary and a good game was RE7.
RE7 wasn't scary though. It's scary in like the opening area and then it's just kinda lame for most of the rest of it. Fun though.
Glad we all got to hear about how a game didn't spook u, brave boy.
had to watch the end of dead space 1 on youtube because too spooked
>game's idea of horror is throwing screamers at the player
Try SOMA. It's a good introduction to horror. Nothing over the top, just horror elements really.
pretty good story too
this so much
how do you not be too pussy to play these games
I envy you guys so much. I've been playing horror games since Silent Hill 1 when I was like 8. It's my favourite genre but I can't get spooked anymore.
i cant even play these games
mind sharing what you did to have enough balls to play it
Alien isolation is my crutch. It's just too much for me
Play it on safe mode.
I fucking despise walking sim horror games, I played through dead space without flinching, it’s not a horror thing, it’s just fucking annoying.
Honestly, safe mode is scarier since the monsters don’t disappear, they stay with you the whole time.
But soma without is 4/5. With safe mode, 5/5.
Just not be a bitch, you little homo.
Seriously though when I started playing I didn't have the balls to play them, that's what I liked about it, was the discomfort.
>nothing over the top
>game has spooky ghost thing that can kill you
are you trying to trick us
What does the safe mode actually do? I kinda blew through the settings before i started.
grow enough balls
im not joking, you need to realise that these kind of games want to make you feel like youre not safe anywhere
Have you played Darkwood? It's really great. Took me forever to actually force myself to play it cause I'm tired of fucking pixelart, though. RE2/RE3 were great too, albeit RE3 should have been a 40 DLC to RE2
TO BE FAIR.. I'm only about 2 hours into it.
But I'm a huge pussy when it comes to horror game and I can do it. So can you.
are there any horror games that does NOT rely on jumpscares? i really cant handle jumpscares but anything else is okay
There’s no checkpoints. If you get attacked, it does everything the same, but there’s no way to die, so you can stagger away.
Here's the Silent Hills PT if you ever wanted to go through it

>inb4 you complain it was uploaded by some Brazilfag
>it works fine
I liked Darkwood a lot too but I felt like there was some concession made for the permadeath thing that ended up being a mistake. Like when you die you can either be permanently dead and have to start the game over, which adds consequence and tension, but doesn't work for a heavily narrative driven game where starting over doesn't offer a different experience. On the other hand, without permadeath I don't think there's enough consequence for death to add any tension.
SOMA and Amnesia is all i can think of
Imagine being this much of a little sissy faggot
blair witch the game
Lol pussy
Hmmm sounds a little too milktoast
I like horror stories but I don't even bother with games because of this. Even if the game claims there's no jumpscares, you can't tell if they're telling the truth so you'll just be paranoid the entire time.
That’s what I thought too, but I found it very enjoyable. having the monsters be actual monsters and not just game over screens really changes the dynamic. It’s not like these games have any great skill requirements, and it’s not like you need interactivity to be scary, e.g. movies.
I would honestly love to see a horror game that expands the concept, where the punishment for being caught is actually part of the game (even if it’s nothing more than a jump scare, like in soma) instead of the very artificial concept of checkpoints, which are entirely a measure of skill and very detrimental to most story driven games (which is why RPGs never have them).
Thanks for the dolphin porn
I'll go try it right now.
I feel your pain brother.
okay i thought i was going to try it.. but i can't change it without starting over so rip to that
Have fun, user. If you want more in the same style, I recommend observer, too. The story isn’t quite as good, and it makes a lot of mistakes that will be obvious to you after playing soma (gameplay wise, that is) but it’s got a pretty solid setting, and one of the greatest voices of all time.
Dunno what the genre is called. Comfy horror? Don’t get me wrong, I love dead space and resident evil, but there’s that primaeval exploratory feeling just slightly missing.
