Just beat this. It was pretty fun and adds some neat changes to the Souls formula. Why doesn't it get brought up much?

>Why doesn't it get brought up much?
It's not weeb shit.

I hate how much sense that makes

Isn't it basically women & minorities dismemberment simulator? Most people here would like it, or they did if they actually played games.

The game is pretty diverse in enemies, so yeah, pretty much.

I got filtered by the guy and his mech.

Metal Armor took me hours to beat. His weapon drop makes the rest of the game a piece of cake though. No boss after took more than 2 tries.

Just fight without target lock in first phase and parry him in second. He got nothing on 3 phase abomination with bullshit bonus reward mechanics that is delver.

First game was pretty boring, nice atmosphere though, I WAS BORRRRN
I also hated that even the fast weapons didn’t feel fast. Loot isn’t as bad as Nioh but I still spent way too
much time in menus getting rid of shit I didn’t need. Targeting specific body parts was a decent gimmick but not enough to bring me back

how did they do my boy Gotterung in S2?

I tried playing through the first one because I loved the idea of it, but I got so bored and found the combat to be really clunky

Heavy duty weapons are pretty sick in 2 because of new parry mechanic that is usable for bosses too.

I think because it's pretty generic.

2 was a big improvement over the first. The combat is pretty fast if you used the lighter weapons.

i only heard somewhere they gotten weaker, which would be a shame as i was having a blast in 1

True, it's not weeb shit, it's just shit and that's about it, also
>that fucking fast travel
I'm thinking big yikes.

it takes a bit of time of getting used to the targeting mechanics and selecting a weapon of choice, but it becomes surprisingly good afterwards
i'd say give it another shot

What in the fuck happened to my image just now

People dismissed the first one and never bothered to give the second one a chance

It was pretty good, the city level design was a huge improvement over the samey-ass factory halls of the first game. Honestly these guys should try making a smaller/shorter experience though, it was still hugely janky and most of the moments you would expect a souls-like to nail (boss fights, general atmosphere) were some of the worst parts. Little Johnny gave me 10x more trouble than the final boss, who I steamrolled on my first attempt without even thinking about it

I played it for about an hour on Game Pass and it was pretty bad. Absolutely no inspiration

I got filtered by the first boss of the first game and I won't bother with the sequel until I finish the first.

>No online
>No co-op
>Bland lore
Is a fun game, but fun games are a dozen. 6/10 with not replay value or longevity cause how bland it all is gets this treatment.

The first one generally sucks. The second game has a first boss which will filter you harder (first real boss)

Just bought this The Surge 1 and 2 on xbox during their spring sales, I should try them out. I really thought I'd be playing a lot more video games during this lockdown but I mostly just play warzone

the animations aren't snappy enough

most of the movement is extremely glidey/floaty and most of the attack animations don't look like they're actually intended to hit someone, more like practice swings at air that have hitboxes attached to them. I find it a bit hard to explain properly but I absolutely detested how it feels to control the character in Surge 1 compared to how snappy and precise all the movement/swings feel in Souls/Sekiro/Nioh/Bloodborne. It almost feels underwater.

Lords of the Fallen had the exact same issue.

I absolutely loved how due to the smaller scope of the game world they could pull off some shit like what's happening at the halfway point of the game.
Also, unlike From's offerings, it's actually polished graphically and I couldn't really find any truly offensive issues with the maps like parts where you could look through the level geometry, missing assets, repeating textures and all that nonsense.
I think the only moment I found was in the checkpoint area if you look past the gates where the road just cuts off.

Lords of the Fallen was awful. I recorded this when I tried it years ago and never went back.

They un-nanofied it.

This. I keep hearing horror stories about Delver, but that boss is nowhere near this level. Even when the Mech misses I still lose 1/4 health somehow and fire resistance does nothing to stop damage.

Great theme though.

I just started on the first game and it's kind of ass. Should I bother trying to finish it or just skip to the second game?

The main problem is that his flamethrower and the flame effect are pretty wonky.
When he incinerates the area the damage box still lingers around as long as the heat texture is still on the ground, even without the flame effects and his flamethrower likes to aim through the mech in order to hit you.

One thing that I didn't like was how Johnny, Delver and Metal Armor couldn't be fought in any order you'd want.
It SHOULD have been possible since the latter are only blocked off by an item and there wouldn't even be that many story-related issues with it.

I never played the first one, but the second one was enjoyable even without any knowledge of the first

Is the combat too unresponsive?
Use a lighter weapon and armor.
The speed reduction isn't about dodging but weapon speed and response which when too high makes the combat clunky as fuck.

Also try to parry as much as possible.
It costs next to no stamina, only requires pressing the block button at the right time and results in you recieving no damage at all.
