Not everybody is into dating sims

I'm 20 now and I find it hard to play through most of them. Persona 5 for instance felt like a chore. I find it difficult to care about anime high school teenagers and their drama enough to sit through hours upon hours of cutscenes.

There's still some great stuff out there though. Love earlier DQ games for example, not so huge on some of tbe more recent ones.

Xenoblade or Suikoden is more your speed

This

I don't mind the JRPG format but most of the settings and characters and tropes that they employ don't appeal to me as an adult.

>20 y/o zoomer thinks he's too mature for high school setting when he only just graduated 2 years ago

Xenoblade seems okay but looks like it might not be my thing. Suikoden is a series I've always meant to look into since I hear nothing but praise for II but have never found the time. Sadly lookimg into a lot of "classic" jrpgs has usually left me disappointed. Just recently I tried Golden Sun and was bored out of my mind. So many words for what seemed like the most typical jrpg plot ever.
Who the fuck cares about high school enough to want it as a main setting? I hated high school, I can't understand why people would want to revisit the experience in any capacity.

i'm a slav that, at that time, mostly played eurojank classics, but i went abroad one time and only had a landlord'ss xbox with his games to play in my free time. i played FFX to kill time and honestly it might've been one of the most boring games i have ever played in my life. it was so mind numbingly boring iliterally watched tv news and mtv instead. I played it up to the meme laugh part and just couldn't do it anymore.

chrono trigger was pretty okay though.

20 now and on Zig Forums please fuck my face whats wrong with the times

Been here for some time, if I knew somewhere better I would leave but I really don't.

It's usually zoomers who don't like JRPGs so you can just ignore them.

wow, you are right. i was sure i played it on xbox.

I only play Dungeon Crawlers, regular turn based rpg's are generally not interesting.

I just got Xeno I hope it's worth it because I never ever finished it.

I play good JRPGs, unlike Xenocringe

are you fucking retarded? You just don't like Persona's setting, that's it. A fucking highschool setting is not a requirement for a JRPG. Go look at all the JRPGs on the SNES and tell me how many of those have a high-school setting.

If you didn't like GS because you thought the plot was too typical, Suikoden most likely won't change your mind. What stories do you like? Not just games. Most likely we won't be able to find a JRPG that fits you because they love their tropes and hero's journey shit, but it's worth a shot

sorry i don’t play movie games

What is it about Xenoblade that you feel "might not be your thing"? I can understand 2 or even X but the first one is pretty much as classic JRPG as it gets

There's maybe 1 decent one released every 3-5 years.

Why the fuck that people on Zig Forums is seperating RPGs depending on nationaliy? I don't care if its from another country unless its english, i just want a good RPG, a tactics one to be exact.

A lot of them kinda suck. I always play these games imagining how I would do differently than the pussy MC's and realised this shit ain't for me

It's not just Zig Forums. On the back of their cases they all used to be called "RPGs". Then in the PS2 era some salty ass magazine journos that decided that WRPGs were the only "true" RPGs because you could actually """""roleplay""""" started differentiating them tongue-in-cheek and we have the two terms to this day.
But even before then, they were sometimes referred to as console style and being really fair having had no experience whatsoever with CRPGs if I had asked you for an RPG rec and you gave me something like Baldur's Gate when I'm expecting Wild Arms I would have been peeved. They're different enough that they should have SOME sort of differentiation, I'd rather we call them something else, but the terms are easy

There's still plenty of good ones, but you just have to wade through an ocean's worth of high school shit, teen angst and chuuni fantasies to get to them. More so than western RPGs, because there's a whole lot more Jap devs that churn out budget RPG games. Some of them good, most of them bad.

>>Giant floating dildo appears on screen
yes floating dildos are a staple of many JRPG franchises, you're not mentally ill

i don't play them because i hate missing stuff and you always miss stuff without a guide

>zoomers complaining about being "old"

lmao

Fine then.

>Giant tentacle dick monstrosity appears on screen

>He's going to play the "remake" where they change the artstyle for no good reason other than to match the shitty generic one from the sequel.

there's rarely anything worthwhile that you can miss
who gives a shit if you missed some early game weapon when your current weapon deals 10 times more damage
and most jrpgs allow you to go back to previous areas to get things you "missed"

20 years old is way too old for Persona. I loved the series when I was 16, but at 23 I can't enjoy a single JRPG ""story"". Gameplay is all that matters and Xenoblade 2 is king.

XC1 is simplistic trash btw

>but the first one is pretty much as classic JRPG as it gets
More like as braindead as it gets. The combat in XC1 is as bad as the opening hour of a Dragon Quest game.
