Alyx now has steam workshop, and basic modding tools. The following tools are now released or updated: Hammer Material Editor ModelDoc AnimGraph Particle Editor Subrect Editor Source Filmmaker This is along samples and expanded documentation. in the coming weeks the tools will be further updated
How much freedom do modders have? Like with elder scrolls basically able to create your own world? Hope people use the existing mechanics and create something cool.
Jacob Turner
people created small campaings before the tools were released so Im looking forward to what they can do now
I'm a big user of SFM so I'm diving into S2FM. So far so good, but it's only HLA assets and none of the custom workshop stuff I'm used to working with. I also want to make use of S2 Hammer but damn do I suck at it.
Seems like a good thread to ask. I have a occuls dev kit 2. How much has improved since then? It was a pretty great experience but the grid and field of view bothered me.
Carter Bailey
I'm not really interested until we see some shit that wasn't made in a day come out.
It hasn't. The resolutions are slightly better, the FOV is slightly better, but they're both still miles away from what I'd consider acceptable.
Foveated rendering with super high DPI screens should be the minimum you consider as an upgrade, and even then, all the games are going to have to be re-written to support it.
Nathan Wilson
I disagree. My first experience with VR was at a trade show and that was a dev kit 2, with very noticeable screendoor effect as pointed out. I later got myself an index and it hasn't bothered me once. 1440 × 1600 has become standard among a lot of the more recent headsets and i haven't seen much complaints either so i'm guessing this is a problem of the past.
My only problem with this shit is you still need VR to play mods. What if you just want to make a traditional game mode?
Noah Miller
No source code though, so if you have aspirations of making anything other than content for HL:A that stays within its limitations, don't bother
Kayden Butler
I upgraded to quest + link/virtual desktop. I feel it was a massive jump
Connor Rogers
Jesus fuck. I remember trying a DK2 and not being able to see shit, just like that pic. It was all a blurry mess. I'd really hope things have improved since then.
Thanks for the info guys. Its kinda hard to find any comparison with DK2 lol This picture is exactly how it looks. So that being less noticeable is a huge plus. It bothered me alot.
Aaron Murphy
Other games have had massive game changing mods without the source code, why do you think this matters at all?
Gabriel Adams
Now that the workshop is out How long until Garry's mod 2?
Justin Gonzalez
Half-life , Half-life 2 showcased what you can do and ideas and games were created from it, Alyx is just teleporting slow-walk, i don't see anything creative or fun being made from Alyx
Jeremiah Phillips
Well most people couldn't play the game so I don't see why there would be any porn. Her model has been available ever since the game released. Nobody seems to want to use it.
You can do it yourself. The model is on smutba.se
Isaac Ward
>1908x1068 webms do not need to be this big, there is a fullscreen option, get with the times grandpa
Tyler White
There's plenty of stuff on twitter already.
Leo Moore
Really worth the extra $700 for an index.
Aiden Lewis
They are editors so you can make whatever the fuck you want. The bigger problem is that there isn't a complex game like elder scrolls to serve as a frame work so actually making something to play requires much more work.
Mason Powell
I don't really use twitter. On rule34 there's barely any new images with her
Austin Davis
Someone PLEASE fix that fucking shitty retcon ending.
Aaron Carter
Do you have a better idea? I'd like to hear it.
Jason Watson
you know that Steve Martin movie "the man with two brains" do that.
Jaxon Rivera
The Thing VR please.
Jacob Walker
you don't need HL:A extensive exteeeensive modding to do that, GMOD has VR you can whip something like The Thing VR, no problem
Daniel Cooper
is it even possible to do any kind of multiplayer shit with these tools? I would assume that HLA wasn't exactly built with netcode in mind
