>Ruling is hard. This was maybe my answer to Miyazaki , whom, as much as I admire him, I do quibble with. Dark Souls had a very medieval philosophy: that if the king was a good man, the land would prosper. We look at real history and it’s not that simple. Miyazaki can say that Gwyn became king and reigned for a thousand years, and he was wise and good. But Miyazaki doesn’t ask the question: What was Gwyn's tax policy? Did he maintain a standing army? What did he do in times of flood and famine? And what about all these Hollows? By the end of the linking of the flame, the curse is gone but all of the Hollows aren’t gone – they’re in the mountains. Did Gwyn pursue a policy of systematic genocide and kill them? Even the little baby Hollows, in their little Hollow cradles?

i hate this fatty

Lmao gwyn was never a wise and benevolent ruler, it's pretty obvious he didn't care a damn about mortals, or anything outside the first flame.

>oy vey why would you use fantasy as a way to convey mystical and metaphysical concepts, I'm much more concerned about shoehorning my retarded neoliberal worldview into this imaginary world, like did princess zelda have a magical onlyfan? what about brothels, did they have brothels in yarnham, did they shit blood all over their clients cocks? I'm george r martin and I wear adult diapers

Imagine being too stupid for a writer like him not to understand Gwyn. There's countless videos out there of written texts about the story but no... Let me fatspin some crap that's not the character.

At least he kept consistent in the psycho bitches character in GOT

That quote is especially funny considering how his story also barely includes any tax policies or actual fucking economics etc.
Not to mention it's a generic story about BIG BAD THREAD aka. White Walkers. Fucking hack.
The only fantasy book i read that actually dwelled on those was unironically The Witcher series, and that's only because Sapkowski is an actual banker and economist.

FINISH THE FUCKING BOOKS

The quote is actually about Aragorn and Lord of the Rings you absolute retard.
Are Dark Souls fags the most mentally deranged gamers out there?

ive heard him say this shit but i dont think it was about dark souls pretty sure that quote was about LOTR

Says the guy who is very happy about the ending of GoT, not even one single complain about it.
Fucking fatman

>make fantasy world where there's a clear line between good and evil and metaphysical concepts are real things that affect people's lives
>"hurr but what's their tax policy?"
Modern day "creatives" need to be holocausted.

Yeah, you are right, this is just a shitposting.

Ohhhhhhhh god fucking dammit wheres the Elden Ring?

Ending to GoT is good, but it was shit because the show was rushed and all the plotlines didn't come together cleanly.
Honestly if you did not expect Dany to be a fucking psycho nuts bitch then you are too retarded to watch any medium, ever.

This. He's a subversive goblin. I hope Miyazaki sees through it.

Knowing GRRM's work ethic they'll probably have to push out the game first then patch in all the lore later

>where there's a clear line between good and evil
That's only how (some of) the characters perceive of it. LotR's narrative is purposefully blatant in showing how that line can be blurred, it's what the temptation of Galadriel is all about.

>what about brothels, did they have brothels in yarnham, did they shit blood all over their clients cocks?
The answer is yes for both.

>The only fantasy book i read that actually dwelled on those was unironically The Witcher series, and that's only because Sapkowski is an actual banker and economist.
You just made me want to give the books a shot, where do I start?

Woah user, I never said anything about what I think about the ending of GoT, this smells like projection.
In any way, here's my opinion: the ending was retarded, every character acted retarded, as if they were no more characters, only archetypes, the entire politic and social map of the last season in general didn't have any fucking sense, and the list goes and goes on.

anyone know if the shield of want and the covetous silver ring, etc augment souls received from beating a boss?

Fair point, but I was speaking more in general and how modern creatives want to remove the fantasy from fiction and replace it with meme-tier commentary on the state of the world.

The Witcher books are absolute trash, must be stoned.

It's literally just pulp male fantasy, anyone who claims the Witcher books bear any merit whatsoever must have not read a single other book in their lives.

t. read all witcher books

>Ending to GoT is good, but it was shit
So which is it?

I’m pretty sure they do. I know for a fact they don’t work on souls you find as items though (including boss souls), but the souls gained from actually killing the boss should be multiplied.

Tryhard teenager + 2deep4 you garbage. So yeah, pretty much. How new are these people holyshit.

Which makes it pretty ironic he failed to really cash in on his IP, huh?

Honestly I’m interested in seeing the work he’s done for Elden Ring considering he’s just doing the lore and world building and it’s up to Miyazaki and From Software to come up with a story set in that world using that lore. Martin does actually put in some modicum of effort when he’s passionate about something, but he’s said himself that he hasn’t cared about A Song of Ice and Fire in years which is why he doesn’t work on it. The fact that he actually did all his work on Elden Ring to completion gives me some hope it’ll be decent. Not amazing since Martin isn’t a good author, but decent hopefully.

i remember it worked in DS1 but as for DS3 im not sure because i received like XX,000 souls from a boss while wearing the ring and the shield and usually it's an odd number or something like that

Try reading the books instead of just watching the shitty show

IIRC the only reason the TV show happened was because Sapkowski’s wife nearly killed him when she found out that he sold the vidya rights to CDPR for only like 9 grand and that he refused to accept royalties because he thought video games weren’t a big business. She must have been absolutely seething when she looked up how much money CDPR made and her husband didn’t.

>t. read all witcher books
I unironically burst out laughing when reading that line. Why did you read them all if you hate them so much?

So, wise anons, is a build of "ring of the evil eye + server" a viable life sucking build in DS1?

Forever unfinished.

All total bullshit.
He wanted to be paid upfront because every adaptation of his work to date was pure garbage and the previous game failed and was never made.
He never complained about CDPR earning so fucking much from the games. The only reason he started to go after them and look for ways to get the percentage revenue from the IP was because his son was dying from cancer and wanted to help him.
Once his son died he stopped going after CDPR at all and even has good relationship with them now.

In some of the games the number of souls you get from bosses is a nice rounded off number like 20,000 and in others it’s weird odd numbers like 21,335 or some shit like that. Dark Souls 3 is of the former type I believe, so even after multiplication you’re always going to have at minimum two 0s at the end of the final amount.

>considering how his story also barely includes any tax policies or actual fucking economics etc.
Or any deep world building, really

I bought heavily into the hype before W3 and wanted to know all there is about the Witcher lore before playing through it.

Little did I know that the book world-building was nonexistant, the writing was retarded and the storylines were boring as all hell.

Still loved W3 though
