I really liked the first xenoblade chronicles game, I really enjoyed its story, but also how much of a world the game has, felt pretty immersive with all its content. How does Xenoblade Chronicles X compare?

I've only played a bit of 1 (up to the future city on the neck) but I'm in the middle of X at the moment but I'd say it's pretty comparable. I see people say that the main story isn't as good as 1's but the side content is as good if not better. I certainly enjoy all the side quest stuff, the world is huge and it's cool to explore.
XBX basically takes the exploring aspect to it's logical extreme (if you see it, you can get to it eventually) but also greatly simplifies the story to the point that it's mostly there to justify exploring and sidequests. Party members are generally less interesting despite there being more of them, music alternates between great, FANTASTIC (but rarely playing) and terrible (and playing way too much).
It's one of my favorite games of all time but it takes a very certain mindset going in to really enjoy it.
If you spent lots of time in XB1 procastinating the main quest because you wanted to see everything and do everything before moving on you'll probably really enjoy it.
Why do people complain so much about the Skell combat, it seems fine so far. Has the same sort of skills and soul voices and things.
I do admit I don't know what's happening when it suddenly zooms in on my cockpit for like 5 seconds.
Also this game still looks great holy shit
>I don't know what's happening when it suddenly zooms in on my cockpit for like 5 seconds
That's "cockpit time". It makes you invulnerable and refreshes all your weapon cooldowns. It's totally random. Like a reverse critical hit. My skell build is entirely based around firing off a fuckhuge damage weapon and then spamming quick cooldown attacks until I get cockpit time and refresh them all to repeat it again.
Skell combat isn't as clearly defined as ground combat is so it comes off as shallower to a lot of people. A big part of it is just meant to be spectacle (they flat out admit balance was not a concern when it came to Skell combat).
The world is much improved in X and is crazy immersive, but the main story is much less of a focus. It's way more about the sidequests, which are generally a lot better.
I really liked both of them.
I liked Orpheans a lot
Xi is a shit offline MMO
I wish this game wasn't a blurry mess because it's the most beautiful game i've ever seen
It's baffling to me that you can beat the game without recruiting any aliens other than the Manon, when so much of the game's high points come from those interactions. Orpheans were a great first race for optional recruitments, though. Spock bugmen who eventually mutate in ways even they can't comprehend.
X is my favorite game I've ever played. It's also impenetrable for a while. Fantastic when the gameplay loop clicks with you. Interesting lore and story.

ALL THE WAY TO OUR FATHER'S LAND
Ah, thanks, so it's like those button prompts? Will keep that idea in mind.
How do you recruit them, do you come across them in the MSQ? Only on Chapter 6 right now.
Would love to see this game emulated on PC. I wouldn't be able to run it on my toaster but more HD pics would be fantastic.
Stuff like the volumetric fog and shaders looks excellent.
>do you come across them in the MSQ?
One species of aliens is introduced in the main story quests and they bring a new hub area with them. The rest are all optional and done via sidequests.
That's the Ma-non, right?
I dont wanna spew memes but when this game runs at 60 fps it looks so smooth and natural is insane. Sorry for teasing but it does look THAT good and i'd keep playing but it gets quite a bit taxing on my current cpu, but hey it runs great.
Yeah, them.
Post some screenshots dude, I wanna see it without the blur. Can current emulation upres it?
>Graham mentions how the Manon living pods are basically just big enough for a bed and a container stacked with pizza
Sounds like heaven.
Story, characters and gameplay took a massive step back. Exploration is better.
Sure can, 1080 and everything, there's also other fancy stuff that can be applied but i dont do it because the game looks great as is.
That looks sick. I'm glad the WiiU version is still online/supported, but if it ever goes down a remaster would be great.
Pretty much this.
I'd say all 3 XB games are masterpieces, and part of the reason that's so is because of how different they are.
I have a few screenshots, but I'm on a toaster myself. Wasn't able to run 60fps without slowdown cropping up every now and then.
indeed it does
XBX2 with XS3 character designs WHEN
Remind me, I've got this Top Secret: Julius mission in my list, wasn't there something about these missions that was a bad idea to take or am I misremembering?
>JUST got scouted for the first time
Neat!
That'd be good, one of the issues I have with X's style is the 'draw your own manga' faces some characters have. Lin.
Who wouldn't love this face?
There's no missions you shouldnt take, is just that sometimes they have different outcomes that depends on your choices.

Best in gaming
For some reason I've been finding the world and characters in X much more entertaining than in 1. Maybe not as well written or compelling, but I find myself wanting to do the side quests in this a lot more than I did in the first game.
should I get a Wii U just for this game? I enjoy exploring shit
