As someone who prefers Aerith more than Tifa, why does it matter if Tifa doesn't have common proportions to some girls in real life? It's a fantasy game with a semi-realistic art style that's leaning more to anime, who cares?

Not him, but it's popularity, and by proxy, Zack's popularity, has done irreparable damage to the way people interpret FFVII's characters and motivations. People oversimplify and trivialize complex personality traits and significant developments characters go through in the game in order to accomodate their love of Zack. Cloud and Aerith, the two most interesting characters in FFVII and coincidentally the people closest to Zack who are both complicated characters that go through an even more complicated journey that changes the way they look and feel about each other (romantic or not) and the past they indirectly share. This becomes "Cloud just thinks he's Zack" and "Aerith just liked Cloud because he was imitating Zack." (this is the weirdest one, considering Cloud is almost nothing like Zack past the superficial level.) It doesn't help that the game isn't particularly good aside from the OST.

That's why Crisis Core fans need to fuck off. I don't even ship, and I want Cloud and Aerith to fuck like rabbits in the Remake specifically in hopes that it chases the Crisis Core fanbase out of the discussion. That game and it's fans are a cancer inhibiting FFVII's cast and the fascinating stories they share.
