Power Paintbrush/Canvas Curse is the best Kirby game and you should play it, especially if you still got a DS. It is one of the few Kirby games I have actually enjoyed.

We had a super limited eShop game with no online and a full game that was hybrid 2d/3d with online that no one played.
Also it was all Kirby except for MK.
I still remember the lead up to Battle Royale after the one bit of info we got was "fighting action game" and everyone went wild rosterfagging, only to be disappointed. At least we got Sleep as a combat ability out of the poll, we somehow didn't fuck that up

There was also waddle dee and dedede, but yeah, it could have used more. Why wasnt bandana dee or at least a skin, that really confuses me since he is such an important character in story mode, though I didnt really like how they made him kirby’s best friend and made him betray dedede.

For sure, it just seems easy to assume those would be a given if we imagine they'd be reusing the work form Star Allies, I'd love more villains like Sectonia, Dark Matter or Nightmare.
If we're allowed to dream though, just forego the gameplay reuse limitation and have a cool original fighter that can accommodate for more varied fighters, sizes, skills, supers, and actual competitive play (not necessarily hard or super complex but still, built for purpose as opposed to retrofitted from single player). I can see a touhou fighter like game with borbs and dark matters flying all over the place. Kirby is perfectly poised to make an original take on the genre, even if well, Smash exists as an offshoot of Super Star.

I mean, Smash plays like Kirby so would it be any different? Kumazaki added in the dodge too.
But really though had he not left I would assume Sakurai would've just turned Kirby into a weird experimental series with no consistency, Dream Land to Adventure to Super Star made big leaps and changes and yet he still felt like he was rehashing, so he made Air Ride as an indulgence in something different and left.
Would probably all be bangers no matter how weird though, Sakurai knows what he's doing, we'd write trivia about how Kirby started as a platformer then theorize how Sakurai would shake up the third person shooter with Kirb Icarus Uprising after the critically acclaimed Baseball Kirby game, but Kirby Farm will always be Zig Forumss favorite. I really wish Smash wasn't holding him hostage holy shit
