Is OSRS mostly for manchildren? I used to play RS from 2004-2014. Lately I've been getting the itch to start OSRS again.

Just wondering if mostly NEETs with too much time on their hand play it. I can't believe I actually want to play a game with so much grind. Did somebody do something similar and ruin their life?

Runescape General

i enjoy osrs but i am also literally fucking stupid

I came back one day cuz a friend talked me into it and got my ten year cape and I was like "cool" then I played for 3 minutes and quit because I'm not in middle school anymore and coming home to fap to franks adventure and doing clue scrolls doesn't do it for me anymore.

How stupid are we talking about. Do you have a job and how old are you

It’s mostly for bots now. No one talks in game

All video games are "mostly for manchildren" faggot.

Do you still play it? The player counts seem pretty high. Not sure if there was a good count done by someone to get the number of bots

It shouldn't be called "old school" runescape anymore it lost that name years ago already

Agreed. but runescape is on a different level altogether.

But why? They are still pretty true to the original right

most fishing spots on free servers are pretty social

I thought their bot detection system was pretty advanced now. It still isn't great?

this has happened to me twice
>play OSRS for a few months, take a break
>come back a month or two later
>account is hacked and has been permabanned by jagex because it was used for botting
>make another account
>play for a few months
>take a break
>same thing happens again
I used their two factor authentication too so it just felt like a waste to even bother after that, I love runescape but I can't play it with the anxiety knowing I can just lose it all overnight because jagex still uses their decade and a half old ban system that leaves you powerless against chinese and south americans

it's bots. RS3 unironically has more human players, which is absolutely pathetic

I thought rs3 has less human players. Do we have a good recent estimate about the number of players

It's been heavily casualized
>grand exchange
>dying doesn't matter at all anymore
>no aggressive random events
>non-combat skills are almost meaningless as new added monsters/slayer drop resources in massive supply
>added rs3 inspired weapons that break the game
it's no longer old school

I see. Do you still play it

Everyone plays it. Even normies like Tyler and Cr1tikal, latter having 99 stats.

does having a 99 stat even matter now that you can directly convert real world currency into gp?
having an herblore or firemaking cape isn't impressive if you just bought a token or two, bought your materials, and autoclicked overnight

Auto clickers are ez bans right

I check in every now and then but don't play it anymore, there is a game mode that's coming called group ironmen which I'll play with some friends, the mode prevents you from trading/interacting with anyone who isn't in your group so you have to earn everything with your buds

I bot the shit out of OSRS, it is pretty easy.

Herblore is fucked though,. Bad example unless you're going to tell me you clean herbs for all your XP?

i'm sure a simple autoclicker is easy to detect but you can replace that with literally any macro that jagex can't detect, and judging by the current health of the game theres alot of them

this, grand exchange killed any reason to speak to other players so it's just an antisocial grind simulator now

Any starters guide to botting

it's fun, you will likely enjoy it. keep in mind most of the people dumping on the game have either never played it, or played it for 10k hours and are literal addicts who can't provide you with a real answer.

Just asking if it ruin my life like it did back then. I thought I cannot put more than a couple of hours a week with a job

No. From personal experience don't be stupid can your good, pretty simple.

Dont run 2 account in the same computer unless using a proxy
Dont sign up to botting site with any user name or e-mail connected to your OSRS account
Babysit/watch it as much as you can. You can use a remote desktop view if you'd like to monitor it from somewhere like the house.

As for which to use or how to make your own scripts, look around, it's not that big a deal.

I play about 5-10 hours a week and feel that's enough to get something meaningful done. Down to about 20-30 quests left and this is the farthest I've ever been in the game. Your perspective really will determine if you can play the game responsibly. Most OSRS players I know are true degenerates though so it isn't a good sign.

I would consider a quest cape more impressive now, especially considering how easy it is to prayer flick/blowpipe jad. Inferno cape is the 'new' fire cape, quest cape is the new 99. Quest capes are rare as fuck.

Runescape is for people on the autistic spectrum. Probably why I like it

i loved runescape classic as a kid.

i wish it still existed, i would probably still place it

>Dont run 2 account in the same computer unless using a proxy
I multibox all the time and I've never had trouble.
