Are there any advantages of using a mechanical keyboard for gaming other than being louder?
Are there any advantages of using a mechanical keyboard for gaming other than being louder?
don't ask questions just consoom
TIKA TAK TIK TIK TIK TAK TAK TAK TAK TAK
it feel good
meme
they last longer, just don't get gayman keyboards they're a waste.
way more durable and they don't have to be loud. there are quiet switches
>Are there any advantages of using a mechanical keyboard for gaming other than being louder?
Not for most people. For really skilled people in some games, yes
for instance with scout in tf2 you can dodge back and forth faster if you're really good and you have a red switch keyboard or similar
Literally none
It feels good to type on one vs a membrane keyboard. That's literally it. Your paying for a premium feel when typing. Its not better for gaming that's just a meme
Easier to clean
Don't ask questions silly goy, just do what all your favorite e-celebs tells you to do and buy overly expensive "gaming" stuff with glowy lights.
>tfw too lazy to take all my key caps off and soak in a warm bowl of water
less key pressure needed to register a button press
they last longer. just go with hybrid switches if you think mechanical switches are too mainstream
I'd rather play with my $10 logitech kb from walmart
Most of my keys broke so I can't play games in which you constantly have to press a key like Q W E in LoL because they just go flying away.
MECHANICAL KEYBOARDS FUCKING SUCK, I didn't want one, my father gave it to me "as a gift beacuse it's more gamer that way" and when I rejected it because IT'S FUCKING SHIT he started crying and saying I hate him.
Fuck mechanical keyboards and fuck my dad.
>last longer
Literally used the same Logitech for five years and it's got nothing wrong with it.
For gaming, not usually.
They're mostly for faster, more accurate typing.
>they last longer
Where did this meme come from? 10 dollar keyboards from Walmart last longer than mechanical keyboards
>they last longer
hahah not really dude, something with more parts will always last less long...membrane keyboards literally last 30+ years.
yeah the lasts longer meme is a joke, I still have a USB 2.0 keyboard from 2002 that works great.
no
just buy a regular $10-15 keyboard and you will play just as well as you would on one of those ridiculously priced and atrociously loud mechanical keyboards
Typing. Tactile feedback.
>Where did this meme come from?
ITS RATED FOR ONE MILLION KEYSTROKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else here that was stupid enough to fall for the mechanical keyboard meme and miss their old membrane keyboard?
They feel good to use and type with, they're highly customizable, and easy to clean. A keyboard isn't going to make you better at vidya if that's what you mean.
Don't ask questions.
Just consume product.
Then get excited for next product.
More satisfying to type on and n key rollover.
All this talk about "they last longer" is bullshit when all my rubber domes have lasted 10-15 years without any problems so far.
They're a lot better to type on
i bought the quiet switches and they are quiet, except for the space bar, which defeats the whole purpose since that's the key you press the most when typing.
Just a meme to get you to spend more money on a keyboard than you need to. They tricked you idiots into thinking you have to have one in order to be le epic pro gamer on your twitch streams.
Durable and sturdy build
Wristrest
Faster actuation
Easier to clean
Why wouldn't you try one out before purchasing it? Dumb consumer.
OVER 90% OF KEYBOARDS CAN'T PASS THIS TEST
Hold down both left and right shift while typing the following sentence:
the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog
Post results
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG
you can show your pride with all their pretty colors
Thanks, now the FBI is after me.
My zoomer gf has one and I can't understand or comprehend what the fucking point is. It's like people took a perfectly fine tool and reinvented it to be loud and annoying. Imagine there was a "mechanical coffee cup" or "mechanical butter knife" and when you gripped the handle it went LALALALALALALAALALALALALALALALAALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA until you finished using it. Fuck why were these invented what is the point.
purely for gaming the only reason to get one is a very easy actuation which is good for games. not all membranes are like that, I personally despise them for doing anything. I assume you also type even if you mainly play games, and in that case it's just much nicer to use a good mechanical, don't fall for cherry mx blue meme in gamer keyboards, not even the best for gaming, shit key feel and useless clicky noise with bad tactility.
it's better for office work than gayming
mechanical keyboards have been around since the invention of keyboards, you are the zoomer here, modern ones are just recreations or advancements of tech that no longer is produced.
T QUIC BRON FOX UD OV T LAZ DOG
Feels good, multiple choices of switches, more durability than memebrane keyboards, and nkey rollover.
lmao poor dumb zoomzoom
I bought an IBM Model M for the sole purpose of stopping my addiction to Tetris.
It's god awful for gaming, but it's so damn good for typing. I also like that it's beige and grey, much easier to read than black keyboards.
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG.
Also ngl, I spent like 60 bux on this coolermaster quickfire tk with authentic cherrymx blues years and years ago. Its pretty much paid for itself at this point, I also imagine mechanical keyboards are probably like low quality now on average thanks to casuals buying enough that a quality drop doesn't effect sales anymore.
That being said, this keyboards saved my ass in games that require you to hit lots of keys at the same time.
Not all switches are loud, using red switches with o-rings is just as quiet as a membrane keyboard. It's generally about the feel of pressing keys on a mechanical that makes it better. Bottoming out on a membrane is too squishy feeling, but for gaming where you are pretty much only pressing WASD, R, G, C/Ctrl and numbers for weapon selection it doesn't make too much of a difference. Mechanicals excel at long form typing more than for gaming. Some membrane keyboards feel pretty good, I have picrel as my emergency backup since they go for around $20 and it feels great for a membrane kb. Chiclet keyboards are the ones that are objectively dogshit in all situations, especially gaming.
Keyboards were silent for the longest time and then in the last 4 years "computer people" started owning noisy ones for no reason.
makes mustard gas
N-key rollover.
buckling spring is the only switch which doesn't exacerbate carpal tunnel
nigger tier keyboard
that was only after rubber domed membranes were produced for cheapness. for decades many kinds of complex and tactile mechanical switches were used in keyboards and there is a reason they are so sought after. also many mechanicals are not loud at all, only clicky keys on bad frames with no o-rings or lubrication.
Mechanical keyboards aren't a gamechanger for playing vidya but they are a nice quality of life upgrade if you can justify the cost (avoid keyboard autism). I like the clack and the increased sensitivity (cherry reds) and has made it more comfortable for me to play for long periods.
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG
Man I love N-key rollover.
Loud switches like blues are great for typing while keeping your eyes on the screen.
Why would you ever need to hold down both shift keys while typing a sentence?
yes
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG
HyperX Alloy Elite RGB with Cherry MX Brown switches.
while having analog, that keyboard is also just a top tier keyboard in general. wooting is awesome, i'd get one if I lived in america but it's kinda overpriced in canada.
You need mechanical for high level osu and probably other rhythm games
they feel good to type on and last a long time. I'm still using the same keyboard I bought 7 years ago and it still works like new.
