My god shut up

play russian games

Yeah but I always keep my receipts

Just play PS2 games, faggot. There's no way you've played everything worthwhile.

Yeah. I was looking for some game to invest a lot of time into and get good at and found STG;s. For the first time in years, I'm genuinely enjoying the actual act of playing a game. Even if I die I don't care because it just means another chance to keep playing.

Sekiro is a return to form for vidya.
>No preorder bonuses
>No dlc
>no online
>self contained story that feels finished ie no sequel baiting
>Fun and unique gameplay thats rewarding
>Ninja gaiden tier difficulty yet still fair.

Why the fuck are people on here so cynical? Do you guys just choose to ignore good games or call them shit just so you can be bitter and complain?

Yes, by acknowledging that new games can have just as many flaws as old games.

Also by not exclusively consuming AAA trash.

If you try to have genuine fun and emotions on Zig Forums mods will unironically ban and censor you.

kys nigger, prey was a great game literally who gives a fuck if there were 20 cent dlc skins. Most games that released in the 90s/2000s were shit and entirely forgotten that's why it seems like there were so many classics. Things havent changed you just have no life and can't mask it with Vidya.

Yea I played through Deadly Premonition and now I can't wait for 2 in a couple months

There's still a shitload of older games you haven't played yet. You didn't realize it before, but your journey has only begun.

> Most games that released in the 90s/2000s were shit and entirely forgotten

This fucking this. If you actually compare the games released in the 2010s vs 2000s based on quality you will be shocked how outdated games from the 2000s are and how they aren't actually that good.
I replayed kh2 and the worlds are so empty, story is ass and rushed, dialogue is bad, and combat really wasn't that big of an improvement over 1

No, I genuinely can only find enjoyment in games that I have already played (Those pre 2011)

I used to think I was old, and that I just "didn't get it" with modern games. But everytime I play old games like MGS2, Morrowind and Deus Ex I realise that modern games are just shit.

I recently tried "Outer Worlds" to try and desperately recapture that Fallout 1 vibe. But when I got to the first town and the choice was "Autocratic Overlord" vs "Freedom Socialist" I realised it was too late

I never really stopped liking games, but the only game as of late I played that consistently had the nice, brightly saturated colors of the left side was Kirby Planet Robobot.
Good games I'm enjoying are Subnautica and Etrian Odyssey V.

It was fantastic and groundbreaking for its time, if you grew up with it you'd expect similar qualities from newly released games but they're only marginally better so people are appropriately disappointed. Today's games are still mostly PS2 level scope-wise, with polish, QoL, and better graphics, and we were promised so much more.

Not all modern games are shit, just the mainstream ones.
Look hard enough and you'll find many worthwhile games in the same spirit of those released pre 2011

I don't like most new games but there's still the occasional release I enjoy just as much as the classics. Just gotta filter out the shit. I mean really, most older games sucked too and we just remember the ones we liked the best.

Change genres. I'm playing Monster Hunter World after never playing any previous games in the series and it's holding my interest fairly well.

Just don't play games made after 2006. You will be much happier, I guarantee you.

But I like mass effect and STALKER

Good games...

it takes a special game
last time I had "the spark" was MHW's launch
played 200 hours in about a month, then dropped it immediately

other than that, it's really only games off my backlog that do something wholly unique that I know I'm not going to get anywhere else, that really hold my attention
shit like VtM:B, God Hand, Umihara Kawase, unironically DOOM Eternal was very good as well since it has a gameplay style to it unlike any other FPS I know of
what's sucking your attention is rampant FOMO stemming from playing uninteresting, unappealing games that you know you could change out for another game and potentially have a better time playing

that's how it feels for me, anyway

stop eating up AAA garbage, i have a friend who talks about how video games "arent the same anymore" and other "le tired gamer" gay shit while at the same time the only game he's launched in the past month is overwatch and refuses to play classics like the DMC series because he watched a 5 min youtube video and decided he doesn't like the genre
the spark never left, you just need to stop playing trash

Zig Forums, and most of the more popular boards, is primarily contrarian in nature newfag.
At least the more vocal anons. Its easier to bait for (You)s when you anger/annoy/plain disagree with the "norm"

Stop consuming or even trying AAA corporate garbage, pretty much the only heartfelt games with any shred of fun in mind anymore are made by smaller studios and people these days.

>old games like MGS2, Morrowind and Deus Ex
>old
shut up SHUT THE FUCK UP

stop playing FOTM shit you dumb fucking nigger

The thing is, the mainstream games back then were good.

It's been decades, user.
Face the facts.

??? So what nigger? I can't make a thread in hopes of bringing back the kino spark back?

You can still experience greatness, just avoid the garbage. This is how I sift through the medium.

>avoid graphically intense games
>avoid casual games
>avoid story heavy games (aka movieshit)
>avoid weeaboo pandering
>avoid anything with waifus
>be wary of anything over 20 dollars
>avoid anything with DLC (unless it's free)

That alone sifts out the movie games like Final Fantasy and Uncharted and Dragon Quest, or the generic military shooters, and you even avoid the iphone-tier games like Fate: Grand Order and Animal Crossing, so you're guaranteed a better experience.

Desu Ex is literally 20 years old user, well the launch anniversary is in June anyway.

Basically once or twice a year or so I'll find a game that makes me feel like a kid again. Last year it was Dusk, so far this year Alyx has been the only one to do it for me.

Abandon AAA

Attached: america.jpg (1940x1376, 581.15K)

>MOVIE GAMES
>DRAGON QUEST

holy shit you don't know anything about games, do you?

I completely shifted to a different videogame genre and the interest came back

AAA =

Avoid
Avoid
Avoid

what do u play now?

Dragon Quest was the original narrative-focused casual "anyone can play this!" RPG. That was its whole design philosophy.

VR helps alot
makes both games and coom engaging again

I found something else to do. Now that I'm working, video games are a lot more fun.

Attached: 1586556029813.png (864x458, 263.16K)

I used to play FPS and fighters, at the moment I changed to adventure games, action games like diablo and visual novels but I can see myself playing some platforms too, basically I don't play multiplayer anymore because i don't find it fun

Yeah, and Mario and Pokémon.

Do that make Mario and Pokémon movie games?

Yes I enjoy games more at 31 than I did at 13. It's not games it's you being a massive faggot.

I play real RPGs instead of some cinematic experience shonen cutscene simulators disguised as vidya. BTW, westernized ARPGs like Soulsborne games are great because they prioritize gameplay instead of trying to be anime movies with 100 hours+ cutscenes.
