Nah, 1>2 all the way. 2's still good though

are these games actually any good, I've only ever seen them mentioned because of the memes

isn't it interesting how like pigs are always evil in video games

I prefer Tomba 2 as a whole and Town of the Fisherman as a starting level, but the Village of All Beginnings track is my favorite of the two.

Yes, surprisingly solid games.

No.

I want cringe zoomers to leave and reflect upon their actions

tomba 1 and 2 is the perfect representation of the failure that was the 5th gen in general. you go from a 60 fps 2D game that looked great, played quickly, had a lot of openess for a platformer in how you approach the areas, with a few key mechanics that get used throughout the whole game in a variety of interesting ways.
and then you get a sequel that's 3D, runs at some shitty way worse inconsistent framerate with floaty controls to match. a shitload of cutscenes with horrible voice acting to throw off the pacing, it's linear as shit, and the gameplay is more about using gimmick powerups in 1-2 areas and then moving on to the next gimmick powerup.

fifth gen 3D games largely aged like total shit and its never been more clear than the one year gap between tomba games

Yes. Both very solid and awesome in their own way. Still prefer 2 nostalgically. That starting beach music is excellent.

Tomba 2 was alright, but kind of a disappointment following 1. Tomba 1 is way better.

What would of you done in this situation

They're platformers RPGs
pretty much 100% unique genres. I don't think any other game like them exists.

I don't keep up with speedrunning nonsense but it feels like every time I hear about some cringe story that doesn't outright involve trannies it's always this fucking Chibi guy
can I get a quick rundown

youtube.com/watch?v=H50nqenYMDM
youtube.com/watch?v=o1BBiPeDXM0

a speed runner usually talks through the steps he does and why. tells you things that are important and tells us about mechanics. he is a master of his game, a true gentleman. When you are just running through the game like an autist sperg then you force someone to try to take on the role of making the awkward silence bearable. regardless, all parties are guilty. but games done quick was more at fault for not having sense and making sure their content is quality, not trash

What did the non-linearity of the first game add to it compared to the sequel? I liked the progression in 2 as it felt meaningful whereas the apparent openness of 1 didn't really result in anything as you still had to go beat the same areas and events to finish the game.

I would really prefer it if you'd be quiet.

>"why did you do X?"
>"how does Y save time?"
>"how would one get started running this game?"
or just ask questions in general to the runner

even blueglass was doing that in the unedited version of run and that guy is actually on the spectrum

how do you mean

the event system only makes sense in a game thats somewhat more open and non-linear. if its a almost entirely linear game like 2 then its just a bunch of extra fluff inbetween you and playing the game

I've had Village of All Beginings and The 100 Year Old Man's Hut stuck in my head since I played the demo over 15 years ago. Hell I only got a full copy of the game about a year ago.

I still can't get over how different the intros are. What the fuck were they thinking for Europe? I just can't hate it but it's so fucking out of place.

imagine if never got on that couch

no daily threads, raids and might not have even ended up cheating since he wouldn't feel the need to get validation anymore

oh yikes the mutt version is soulless. I'm sorry.

so true. this has caused reason for opinion and discussion. it has drawn criticism and others have been on Caveman"s side. both these dudes owe a lot to this moment.

I picked up the PS1 classic of Tomba a while back and I was wondering if there's a known glitch with the menu. I don't seem to have anything but the items tab but I know there's the event list and map, they just aren't there. Do you get them when you beat the game or something?
